Smackdown Spoilers for 6/27/08

Recommended Posts

Dark Match:

* Tommy Dreamer b. Kevin Thorn after hitting a DDT.

WWE SmackDown: (Airing This Friday)

* Mick Foley makes his way out to ringside. So far, no sign of Jim Ross.

* SmackDown opens with Vickie Guerrero nearly in tears talking about Vince McMahon's "accident." She receives a lot of heat and wishes Vince well. She says she hopes he's not in a wheelchair. She announces new SmackDown color commentator, Jim Ross. He makes his way out to ringside as the crowd explodes!

* Triple H comes out to cut a promo. He gets a huge pop. Triple H welcomes Jim Ross to SmackDown by saying he is the best and he's glad he came with him. He the talks about Night of Champions. Edge comes out to interrupt him. He tells Triple H that they can get both get along. Hunter disagrees by saying that both have too big of egos and that Edge won't have the World Championship after Sunday's Night of Champions pay-per-view.

Edge combats by saying this is his house and that Triple H needs to respect him. Batista then comes out. Hunter then pushes Edge and Batista hits him. They both hold the title up while Edge is on the ground.

* Rey Mysterio's last appearance on SmackDown is announced for tonight.

* Big Show & Kane b. MVP & Mark Henry

The match was back and forth throughout. MVP tagged himself in and got in trouble with Kane. He tried to leave but Mark Henry threw him back in. Kane pins him for the win.

* Finlay & Hornswoggle b. Zack Ryder & Kurt Hawkins

Huge pop for Finlay & Hornswoggle. The match was pretty much one sided throughout and Finlay & Hornswoggle take the win. The Miz & John Morrison stand on the entrance ramp with their belts.

* Edge b. Matt Hardy

I'm told this was a pretty decent match throughout. Lots of holds and counter holds. Edge wins with a spear after several near falls. Lots of crowd heat on Edge.

* Maryse, Victoria, & Natalya b. Kelly Kelly, Michelle McCool, & Cherry

The match was back and forth throughout. The crowd could have cared less. After all the divas get involved Maryse gets the roll up pin on Cherry for the win!

* It is announced that Kennedy won't be on SmackDown until next week.

* Vladimir Kozlov b. Domino

Real quick match. Heat on both Superstars.

* Rey Mysterio comes out wearing street clothes and his mask. He explains to the fans that he has been drafted to Monday Night Raw and he hopes everyone will tune in weekly to watch him. He goes on to say hopefully he can fulfill more of his dreams.

Batista then comes out and says he will back Rey wherever he goes.

* Batista vs. Umaga

Umaga has control early on. The match moves slowly. Zack Ryder & Kurt Hawkins come running out while Edge grabs his belt. La Familia beat Umaga.

Triple H comes out and helps Batista clean house. Pedigree and Batista Bomb on Zack Ryder & Kurt Hawkins.

Batista grabs the mic and said at first he was upset about the Draft. Triple H then told him he was going to good on Raw. SmackDown goes off the air.

Sounds like a decent enough show. I wonder if WWE will ever try to do something with Koslov, or just continue to push him as the big guy in the jobber tights with no music? Also, good to see Kevin Thorn is still around. Wonder who dug him up?

No Jeff Hardy. Also, I don't know why, but if they build him up enough, Kozlov vs. HHH at a throwaway pay per view down the road? I kid, I kid.

La Famila beat up Umaga? wha? Are they trying to push this stable as no one is safe from Vickie's PMS?

MVP now Umaga...soon they'll be the only heels on Smackdown.

WWE still trying to play up the Batista Raw/SD heel/face thing?

Also, with that being said, I am disappointed they did not mention Jericho's lack of title defense or make a match. I was looking forward to a HBK-Y2J Intercontinetal Title match.

Yeah that really makes no sense. I think it was supposed to be Batista.

HBK isn't wrestling at NOC. He wasn't supposed to get jigs or pudding in his eye and ended up getting a table.

In regards to Koslov, I actually am a little worried he'll get pushed too fast too soon into losing to HHH. And I'm one of the people that proclaims HHHate to be "getting old".

You are correct. There were a couple of other small mistakes in the report, so the guy either typed the wrong thing, or he thinks all announcers are color commentators.

So, obviously Batista takes the world title back to Raw. Eventually we'll get a Batista/Rey feud. Though it wouldn't surprise me if we get that Cena/Batista match at WM25 people seem to be clamoring for.

Trips has new heels to crunch on with MVP and Koslov eventually (they'll continue to build him as a monster only for Trips to crush him down) and rematches with old foes Edge, Kennedy, Umaga and Big Show.

Plus, sooner or later UT will be returning and honestly, I wouldn't mind another match between he and Trips.

by the way, isn't Edge like 30-0 against Matt Hardy by now?

I wouldn't mind another HHH vs Undertaker match if they can somehow perform like they did at Wrestlemania X-7. If they can't do any better than KOTR 2002, they can stay the hell away from eachother.

doh! sorry guys, I forgot about that match...that actually took place during my self imposed 2.5 year wrestling hiatus and I've never gone back to watch it.

No more Taker and Triple H- I'm still having nightmares about their match at King of the Ring 2002.

To be fair, Trips has lost like half a person's worth of unneccessary muscle mass since then.

Dark Match:

* Big Show & Kane b. MVP & Mark Henry

* Edge b. Matt Hardy

* Batista vs. Umaga

Well the draft seemed pretty pointless...

He also couldn't straighten one of his arms all the way. Also, Taker was still in his 'Booger Red' phase and his matches were flat out awful then. It's possible they could actually put out a decent match now. Not likely, but possible.

Batista is wrestling Edge at NOC, it would be stupid for him not to have one more apperence on the show to build up the match.

Fair comment, but it could have been done another way other than a match.

In all fairness though, I'm sure the draft effects will take place after NOC.

edited for accuracy.

If Batista does in fact win the belt, he'd be the guy to escort the same belt over on a new show twice in a row (he took the World title to SD as part of the 2005 draft).

I'm surprised HHH actually showed up to the tapings this time. Edge / HHH for SummerSlam for the WWE Championship I'm guessing (supposing Hunter actually stays this time).

A Hell In The Cell match between the two would be interesting.

that's what I was thinking...they both lay claim to that match, now they can see who the real master is. Imagine how the booking meeting for THAT match would go down!

I think HHH is smart enough that he'd lose to Undertaker because he won't get hurt for losing to him and because he'd love to accumulate as many "political" brownie points as he can get.

OR... is Undertaker so dedicated to the company that he would LOSE to Triple H months from now at a WrestleMania Hell in a Cell in his OFFICIAL retirement? A big SHOCKER all around. Probably not, but I have a ridiculous imagination.

I still think that UT ends up on Raw when all is said and done. I'm not totally sure how that will happen but I can't really see UT and HHH on the same show.

Seeing Trips in a SD ring and UT in a Raw Ring is something I'll have to get used to. I mean I've never seen Teips on anything but Raw and never seen UT on anything but SD bar a few Raw 3-hour specials

RAW seems to be the place for UT right now. He can rekindle things with HBK or Kane or find something refreshing with the likes of Jericho or Orton (yes, my couple of years of absence may have caused me to miss these feuds if they already occurred). And, yes, he can be the locker room veteran that everyone goes to for advice (I swear, UT is like Dr. Phil I bet). Haha, seriously though, he'd be a better fit on RAW right now, methinks.

Orton had a looong ass fued with Taker when he was on Smackdown.

I'd like to see Taker come to Raw for his farewell tour, or whatever. As long as he doesn't fued with Batista anymore.

I saw a Cena/Taker dark match after the draft show in St. Louis where Cena came over to Raw in 2005. It was good stuff, I'd like to see that fued.

Also: Venkman, I see what you did with that Lenny joke up there. :lol:
