{''({o..o})''} Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Well with Rocky pretty much giving a psuedo-retirement speech, I got thinking real deep. He might not come back to WWE for Wrestlemania because that could drag his career down at this point. So, if you want, post thoughts and memories of The Great One.
NoCalMike Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 It was a great run, hopefully it is over though. His return last time didn't really live up to the hype AT ALL.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 hell his return didn't live up to his Intro video clip
Nevermortal Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I beg to differ. Some of those heel promos were killer, especially the Toronto one.
Guest thrall585 Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 His return last time didn't really live up to the hype AT ALL. What hype? It was just the Rock is returning as usual. Except this time he turned heel and was entertaining unlike his stale face self that he showed today.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 He provided a few more memories with the last return. Him just demolishing whole crowds with his words was tremendous.
Steviekick Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I don't think his career is truly over, but if and when it is, I will be truly upset.

He is 31 and he'll likely only have 2 more Wrestlemania matches, with the last one being in 2005 when his contract expires. Then he will stay in Hollywood.

He seems to love the business too much, and probably feels too indebted to WWE/Vince to just leave them hanging.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Well, Rock said in his interview tonight that he loves being in the arenas where he can feed off the fans. He also said that he would be back wrestling. He could be lying to the fans, but why would he say he's coming back unless he was sure he wanted to come back?
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Another question: would Vince McMahon be willing to let Rock use his real name in his movies, since Vince gets some money from The Rock's movies (if they are sucessful). Afterall, the WWE owns the name "The Rock".
El Psycho Diablo Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Another question: would Vince McMahon be willing to let Rock use his real name in his movies, since Vince gets some money from The Rock's movies (if they are sucessful). Afterall, the WWE owns the name "The Rock". Correction. The WWE doesn't own it anymore. He bought the rights to the name a while back.
Ed Wood Caulfield Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 So, how much money does the WWE make off The Rock's movies if they don't own "The Rock" name anymore? Would Vince McMahon care if The Rock left the WWE completely?
El Psycho Diablo Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I'd assume so, since Rock's the only guy that's left that can draw worth anything.
eirejmcmahon Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I've a lot of respect for the Rock and wish him nothing but success with whatever he decides to do with his career - the fact that his success outside the wrestling business clearly pisses the hell out of HHH is just gravy.
buffybeast Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 So, how much money does the WWE make off The Rock's movies if they don't own "The Rock" name anymore? Would Vince McMahon care if The Rock left the WWE completely? Vince/WWE receives executive producer credits for every movie the Rock appears. That was a part of the deat when they sold the rights to his name. I don't know how long this arrangment will last.
OldSchoolWrestling Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Vince will allow the Rock to come and go as he pleases, to pop the crowd. Rock will come and go as he pleases to hype his movies. Win/Win situation for both.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 The Rock has had a great career. But there is one question on my mind. If there was such a thing as the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, would the Rock be in there??
iamsherm Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Hell yeah he would be in there. No question in my mind.

Here is the kayfabememories HOF, which is pretty respected site. http://www.kayfabememories.com/Halloffame/hofmain.htm
Styles Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Wrestling Observer does a hall of fame too every year. Votes from wrestlers, past hall of famers and wrestling journalists vote and I think you need like 60% to get in, and 10% to stay on the ballot. Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit were inducted this year.
Jesse Badass Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 It will be very messed if The Rock never comes back to wrestling. I hope his movie career dies out soon. The Rock will be appearing on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN. It will be September 26.
Guest Ray Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 The Rock's wrestling skills are pretty damn underrated by many internet wrestling fans. He has his problems (most notably poor/sloppy execution of moves), but he understands how to build a logical match. I find that he has better matches than Angle with the same opponents (Austin, Triple H, Benoit, Lesnar, Jericho....). He's a lock for the HOF, just for the huge amounts of money he drew.

The Rock will be appearing on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN. It will be September 26. Oh please. Get real, he's a sucess, a movie star now. You should be happy he even continues to stop by twice a year to take bumps that could potentially ruin his career. That's a selfish view, be happy for his sucess into the mainstream. Besides, even if his next movie bombs he's made so much already off of this one that he'll never have to do anything ever again to make money.
Guest Choken One Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 Exactly but I don't forsee RUNDOWN bombing since it's the biggest movie in a good month has HOT reviews... Walking Tall is another story though...
Guest The Winter Of My Discontent Posted September 24, 2003 Report Posted September 24, 2003 I think I can say it with confidence now: The Rock is the greatest of all-time. He was a diamond in the ass crack of professional wrestling. I am glad he is a movie star now, he deserves it.

There has never been a wrestler who has been a box office draw or someone who the critics actually like. Hell, Ebert and Roeber(sp?) gave The Rundown "two thumps up." When was the last time a movie staring a wrestler got a good review?
