BlackFlagg Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Britney Spears is to play a European rock festival next summer, it has emerged. The Princess of Pop is confirmed to play at Portugal's 'Rock In Rio' event in Lisbon on June 5, alongside the likes of Slipknot, Metallica and Guns N'Roses. credit: dotmusic.com
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Europeans are generally known for preferring heavier music. Britney is going to be MURDER ON STAGE. But hey, look at the bright side: if it was in Sweden, she'd DEFINITELY be mutilated while all 12 of the original black metallers in the crowd cheered.
Nevermortal Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 That's quite the lineup. What are those promoters thinking?
1234-5678 Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Britney was at the last Rock In Rio (with GNR, Oasis, etc.) and I don't think she did too badly. Except the MP3 circulating of her cursing backstage when something went wrong.
NoCalMike Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 this reminds me last year when Nickelback was playing with a bunch of metal bands. After they kicked off their setlist with "you remind me" the crowd booed them off the stage causing them to stop in the middle of their second song and ask, "you guys wanna hear some rock n roll" and the crowd yelled back "NO" so they left the stage.
Use Your Illusion Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Wow, Metallica & GNR at the same show. If James gets torched by pyro again then I think it's time he took the hint and left Team Axl alone. UYI
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Can pyro strike twice?..STAY TUNED~!
2GOLD Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Wow, I guess the concert needed someone to suck so they brought in the talentless funbag. The promoter must have got confused cause....she is in deep trouble with that line-up.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 One of these things is not like the others...
Corey_Lazarus Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 I hope LARS is the one that gets torched.
Steviekick Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Since Lars is balding, at least his head isn't flammable.
Guest Krazy Karter Posted December 31, 2003 Report Posted December 31, 2003 Guns N' Roses performs May 30th. Metallica and Slipknot perform June 4th. Britney performs June 5th.
Steviekick Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 At least they are on seperate days. I'm sure the concert organizers have it so certain bands are grouped together on the same day to attract certain crowds and stuff.
Black Lushus Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Slipknot is still together? haven't they gotten the hint that they suck and no one likes them...well I guess there are a lot of bands out there in that same boat so nevermind... anyway, instead of playin Rock In Rio all the time, GNR needs to finally come out with that new album dammit...
Use Your Illusion Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Slipknot is still together? haven't they gotten the hint that they suck and no one likes them...well I guess there are a lot of bands out there in that same boat so nevermind... anyway, instead of playin Rock In Rio all the time, GNR needs to finally come out with that new album dammit... Yes, they suck. However, don't they have legions of their little supporters, or 'maggots' as I beleive they refer to their own fans as, who buy into their crap? Remember, now matter how bad something is, there is always SOMEONE out there that likes it. UYI
snuffbox Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 i have to slightly disagree with you hear UYI, yes there music does kinda suck...but their liveshow, or at least back in the day, was tits.

Let's not forget they were pelted with rocks as well.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Jesus Christ, just throw a grenade backstage and wipe out every asshole in the music business. Well not every, but quite a few.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Hm, maybe try to get Six Feet Under on the bill too.

Sonic Reducer Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 Portugal's Rock in Rio ... interesting.
Use Your Illusion Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 i have to slightly disagree with you hear UYI, yes there music does kinda suck...but their liveshow, or at least back in the day, was tits. Granted, their onstage antics were certainly interesting (i.e. spearing each other on stage etc.)
Renegade Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I'm having a horrible image of Axl and Britney singing Me against the music...
Corey_Lazarus Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 I'm having great visions of "Frantic" and "St. Anger" being met with jeers, so Metallica stops playing them and goes into "Seek And Destroy."
Guest Krazy Karter Posted January 1, 2004 Report Posted January 1, 2004 anyway, instead of playin Rock In Rio all the time, GNR needs to finally come out with that new album dammit... Riki Rachtman said on his radio show that the album would be out "sooner than you could possibly imagine" to coincide with their 2004 tour of Europe.
