What is your most hated song ever?

Recommended Posts

Mine would be that fucking Titanic song by Celine Dion. I hate it with a passion.

When I saw this topic that was the first thing I thought of before even entering.

Then I read the responses and remembered that Girls & boys song. I actually said that it was the worst song I've ever heard the first time that it was on and so I think that I'll stand by that.

There's a British band called Turin Brakes who I can't stand. They're horribly pedestrian, strummy acoustic toss. I once had to review one of their singles for my student newspaper. It was called "Average Man", a title which already made me worry about the mind numbing cack it would be. It was beyond horrible. I think I gave it one out of ten, because that was the lowest mark I could give it.

Other hated songs-

"Seven Nation Army"- White Stripes

"Plug In Baby" by Muse

"Hard To Explain" by the Strokes

And the UK winner of Pop Idol- ANYTHING by her. Imagine a fat Scottish karaoke singer so bad that the Celine Dion version of My Heart Will Go On is actually better than her cover. THAT'S how bad she is.

If we're talking British crap then 'Dancing In The Moonlight' by Toploader gets my vote, makes my teeth grate something awful and just makes you think of crap local radio playlists and Jamie feckin Oliver. Muse i'm just indifferent to musically but their fans get right up my nose screaming about how they're the best rock band in the world all the while. Bollocks.

I forgot about anything by Nelly, "Diddy", and Chingy.

The Darkness is the lesser of those evils definately.

Darkness still sucks, and yes, that Christmas song makes baby Jesus cry.

God, how could I forget Dancing In The Moonlight? That song was so fucking irritating it made me want to rip my ears off. Toploader were fucking dreadful.

Too many to choose from. And the way the music industry has churned out wave after wave of shitty "songs" for the past decade or so, the list (not to mention my loathing of humanity) keeps growing.

If I had to choose, I'd say either Bobby McFerrin's "Don't Worry Be Happy" or UB40's "Red Red Wine". I've had to flee department stores and supermarkets because of those muzak horrors.

Easily the song I have hated the most of all-time, that at the time I nearly gave a speech in my speech class about the decline the of western cilivizaton and put the blame on this song.

"Summer Girls" by L.F.O.

If you don't remember them they were yet another boy band when the Backstreet Boys and N'Sync we're poisoning our youth with their music. Now the name is bad enough as it stands for Light Funky Ones. The name alone makes me want to gouge out their eyes with a melon baller. This song produces such mind numbing lines as:

New Kids On The Block had a bunch of hits

Chinese food makes me sick

I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch

I'd take her if I had one wish

You're the best girl that I ever did see

The great Larry Bird, Jersey 33

When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet

Billy Shakespere wrote a whole bunch of sonnets

Fell deep in love but now we ain't speakin

Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton

When I met you I said my name was Rich

You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

There was a good man named Paul Revere

I feel much better baby when you're near

Need I say more? If some kid ever went on a killing spree because of this song I wouldn't have blamed them.

Thanks Bored. I had actually repressed any and all memories of that song, but now they're back. If I remember right, they stole the Beastie's "steal your woman like I stole your bike" line too.

In the End isn't even the worst LP song...

It's a tie between "Somewhere I belong" or "Faint"

Anything by 50 Cent.

Anything by Good Charlotte.

Anything by Sean Paul.

There are other songs I hate, but those 3 artists are responsible for the majority of songs I can't stand.

And I can't believe I'm actually going to write this, but...I like "Summer Girls" and their other song "Girl On T.V.". :(

"Shake ya Tailfeather" by Nelly, Puff Diddy or whatever his name is, and another random rapper (Murphy something or another?)

Murphy Lee. I love that song, but I don't hold it against you. Funny thing was, it was a Murphy Lee song, on a Murphy Lee album, and he gets denigrated to another random rapper. Too bad for him.

Did anyone else besides me notice how badly Murphy Lee mispronounces the word "people" in his part of the song (in the "collect so much grass, people thinkin' we mow lawns" line)?

-Ben

I think he was saying 'po po' as in, police.

While I'm here, I don't like the song "One Week" by Barenaked Ladies either.

I'm seconding the "Summer Girls" nomination. Pure, unadulaterated bullshit.

Even worse, earlier this year, that song came up for whatever stupid reason on the TV or some dumb shit, and this ignorant as fuck airhead blonde next to me squeals and says "I love that song! It's such a great song!" I had to be restrained from cracking her empty little skull.

Morale of this story? Most music sucks and sorority bitches are trippin'.

TLC - "Unpretty"

That song makes me wanna jump off a bridge. The screech of the acoustic guitar over and over and over and over again makes me suicidal to say the very least. Everytime I hear it on tv or the radio, I change it as fast as I can.

Nah...

That song had nice CAMPY value...

"Girls and Boys" has NONE of that.

You people are sick. Truly sick.

I think Michael Jackson's Come Together will always hold a special place in my heart as the worst cover I've ever heard. As for worst song, that is much harder and needs a great deal of thought behind it.

After hearing a song, I now hate anything from the Darkness as well. Makes me wish I could crush the lead singer's larynx after listening to that shit.

"goodbye earl," by the dixie chicks. no contest at all.

recently i also heard "gotta serve somebody" by bob dylan. that has to be the 'godfather III' of the dylan catalog, it made me want to cry. i don't even want to KNOW what shit that man was putting out in the 80s.

^You're thinking right with the Pop Country song..my choice however:

"The Angry American"-Toby Keith.

Talk about the WRONG song, at the WRONG time..stupid hillbilly posturing. What a piece of shit that song is.

Simple Plan, anything off of their cd. An ex of mine gave it to me while we was still dating, needless to say I'm now glad we're no longer together. What a horribly bland piece of shit (the cd)

If you asked me back in '97, I would've said "Mmmbop"

Now, however, that song is like "Hey Jude" compared with the multitude of radio crap that's come out since then

I really don't know the answer to the question now either, as it's easier just to ask me what popular songs I do like (small list) rather than dislike (not-so-small list)

I refuse to listen to music radio since they pump out crappy songs non-stop. I instead listen to my CD collection and newer music by bands I like.

Thus the last crappy song I heard was "I'm a Barbie Girl"
