JoeDirt 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 What are the best matches you can think of under 5 minutes? Under 10 minutes? Here's two that come to mind for me: Owen Hart vs. 123 Kid from KOTR 94, was under 4 minutes. Angle vs. Misterio from Summerslam 2002, about 8-9 minutes, I've always loved this match. What do you think?

Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Ultimo Dragon vs Jushin Liger from the J*Crown tournament comes immediately to mind, i don't think you can anything more out of 2:38 than they did.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Dynamite Kid v Nikolai Volkoff from 1985. The best sub-10 second match in recorded history. -=Mike
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Kevin Nash v Hulk Hogan from the Georgia Dome. Hey, it might have killed WCW in GA, but at least it only lasted 60 seconds.
Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Matt Hardy v Zach Gowen from SummerSlam 2003. As their rematch later that year showed, the best match those two could have would involve no match and Hardy winning. -=Mike
natey2k4 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Shannon Moore vs Akio from Velocity last week was about 4:30. Petey Williams vs AJ Styles from Victory Road was GREAT and under 10 minutes. London vs Kidman was amazing too but I do think that went like 4 seconds over 10 minutes.

Hoff 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Angle/Mysterio should be the standard by which TV matches are judged. I'm not saying it wasn't PPV quality -- it was -- but, it could easily have aired on Smackdown or Raw. It just shows that you CAN do so much with limited time. Guest MikeSC Report post Posted November 21, 2004 Honestly, I loved Guerrero v Rios at Backlash 2000 and I am fairly certain it didn't go 10:00. -=Mike

Special K 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I marked out when Taz destroyed Candido in like a minute. (A November to Remember?) Wasn't a good match, and the ME sucked, but it was one of my 1st exposures to E-C-Dub.
Just John 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 I don't think the Benoit/Eddie Nitro match on the Benoit DVD went over 10 minutes and I loved it. For comedy purposes, I liked The Rock pinning the Bossman in 3 seconds at SS 98 after Bossman unfairly re-entered the tournament.
Guest BrokenWings Report post Posted November 22, 2004 The two which came to mind right away have already been mentioned, those being Petey -v- AJ from Victory Road and Angle/Mysterio. I also really enjoyed the Benoit -v- Matt Hardy match from the US Title tournament on SD last year. I don't believe it went over ten minutes, but the intensity shown (especially after Hardy's nose was broken) made this match really believable and entertaining. JST 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 What IS the criteria for short, exactly? To me, 10 minutes sounds a bit much. Five minutes and under would be enough.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Blue Blazer vs. Mr.Perfect at WM 5 Still could be under 10 min but in case you didn't know that match is clipped.
Australian Pride 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Owen Hart vs Steve Austin - 97 Survivor Series. They were both injured (Austin/neck, Owen/brain bruise) and they went in there for 3 minutes and did everything they could in that time. Austin had another match a month later with Rocky Maivia which lasted about 6 minutes and was pretty good for the amount of time.

Dark Age 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2004 Not really great, but Jamie Noble and Spanky had a ROCKING little 4 minute match on SD last year. The second match they had, in case anyone's wondering. I can't remember the time, but Frankie Kazarian and Chris Sbain had a sweet match on the Super X Cup show last year (about 7 minutes, I think). Nick Dinsmore vs Doug Basham (sometime in 2001) was probably the best 5 minute match I've ever seen. Booker T vs Lance Storm in 2000 was only about 4 minutes I think. JHawk 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2004 The Owen Hart-123 Kid KOTR 94 match. That is the beginning and end of the sub-5:00 conversation right there. For under 10 minutes there are a few choices. Angle-Mysterio has been mentioned, and Blue Blazer-Mr. Perfect from WMV goes less than six minutes (and that's the full version and not the clipped one). Throw in pretty much any Austin-Steamboat match from their 1992 TV title feud where the "10-minute time limit" included the intros and cut the matches to about 8-9 minutes. B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 I marked out when Taz destroyed Candido in like a minute. (A November to Remember?) Wasn't a good match, and the ME sucked, but it was one of my 1st exposures to E-C-Dub. I'm pretty sure that was Wrestlepalooza '97 or Cyberslam '97. I was PISSED when Goldberg beat Raven for the US Title in such little time. Of course, that's just because I'm a Raven mark and never got on the Goldberg bandwagon. Thanks for bringing back angry memories.
