Caliban 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 Christian is the new Chris Jericho, circa 1998. Hope they do what WCW DIDN'T do back then and push him to the moon.
Guest theanswer1824 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 I love Christian, but you can't really go by the response a wrestler gets in MSG (if you in fact were only judging by tonight). I do hope he goes to Smackdown and gets pushed to the main event, though. if you can get a reaction like that in msg, you can get a reaction ANYWHERE. i hope christian goes to sd. he's perfect there. natey2k4 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2005 The funny thing is.. CHRISTIAN ALWAYS LOSES... exactly like the Rock used to do. He loses so much, yet the crowd still loves him because he just oozes with charisma and he does his gimmick so perfectly.
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I'm into the character, but not the matches.

I think if he ever gets the chance to win the big one, and does, it'll mean a lot more since he is used to jobbing all the time. I'd love to hear his speech after winning the championship. MSG, much like NY itself, is a very 'smart' crowd, Christian being cheered there doesn't really mean he's over on the whole.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 Yeah, MSG really isn't a good indicator on how over someone is. Just think of it as a smartmarks forum crowd (or close to it). In most crowds, he'd get booed or no reaction. Which is the opposite JR would have gotten. In MSG JR recieved no reaction at all, but in other arenas, because he's facing Triple H, there's no doubt he would have been cheered.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I do kinda think Christian could have played the cowardly heel champion that needs help (Tomko) to win a lot better than JBL...it woulda made more sense anyway, given his size...I find it hard to believe that a big Texan needs help beating guys like Cena, Guerrero and Angle...a little Canadian dude? I can actually buy that...

I doubt he'd get cheered much anywhere else, but Christian is one of the most over heels they have! No reaction? Yeah right.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 He didn't recieve much of a reaction two weeks ago; if he did, this thread would have been up then. This is the first time JR hasn't been cheered when facing a major heel. He didn't get a reaction at all. Even when facing the Coach he recieved some cheers. Ultra Violence 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I think if Christian goes to Smackdown they should make him leader of a stable comprised of him as leader (WWE), tokmo(enforcer), MNM (tag straps) and Carlito Caribeen Cool (US)
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I like that idea. Christian and Carlito would be interesting.
Shooting Star 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 Carlito got a pretty big face pop from MSG, too. Maybe due to all the puerto ricans in NY.
Mrnoitaull 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I was actually hoping that Edge would go to SD! to not only put butts in the seats as far as the main event cards, but give Edge the due he deserves( He wouls serve Cena). But hey Christisn doesn't sound bad either. or maybe .... both to go to SD!

His character doesn't lend itself to being a follower in a stable. He wouldn't find that "cool", as it were.

That's the point though... he'd be the "loose cannon" vying with Christian for leadership, one would win the title and be kicked out of the group by whichever one stayed face. (Assuming Christian got over to Rock like standards he'd eventually turn setting up a feud with Carlito)
Spaceman Spiff 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 But why would he even agree to be in the group in the 1st place?

Guest seth86 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Well Carlito did agree to take part in that Survivor Series match with Angle's squad. I think Carlito finds all heels cool. Or maybe only olympic champions...
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2005 He didn't recieve much of a reaction two weeks ago; if he did, this thread would have been up then. Are you kidding me? Two weeks ago was the match against Benoit. There were at least 8 or 9 people in camera shot wearing the grey Christian shirt scattered around and at least three seperate, huge-ass 'PEEPS' signs. That = overness.
Guest TheLastBoyscout Report post Posted April 21, 2005 Christian vs. Cena would be the worlds most fantastic feuding ending in an incredibly boring match, simply because both guys "get it" in terms of how to merchandise and market themselves. Christian has the hand gestures, a defined style and character, the nicknames for himself and fans, and he has someone to play off of (the best straight-man they have in Tomko - did you see that reaction to Batista/Christian?!). The difference between Christian and Cena is that Christian has that coolness, but it doesn't feel forced. He doesn't go over the top with it like Cena. But Christian has slowly pretty much got himself a defined character. I think if the MSG crowd loves you it's a good sign, we've seen that particular crowd turn people's careers around. Tomko is a great straight man, sort of the Diesel to Christians HBK (not that Christian is anywhere near that). And Cena got the biggest reaction of SmackDown according to all the spoiler reports. Forced what? Stale who? NUH UH.

Would that because Cena is the number one face on Smackdown right now and should be getting that kind of reaction if he's the number one face on Smackdown at the moment? What he means by "forced' is by Cena making all that gay referances in his "freestyle rapes" over and over again to get a cheap laugh/pop. Cena mentioning the homecity to a cheap pop (see ex. Foley). Stuff like that, where Christian is just growing on people by just being...Christian.
Garth 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2005 I will definatly have a Peep sign for Raw this week in Birmingham. I'm excited to see how he does against 'Tista. Now Orton has been shelved for a while I think it's time they gave Christian back the gold sparks for his enterance.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2005 I think it's more of a case of the crowds being completely apathetic towards many of the newer faces along w/ HHH of course. Then they look at Christian and think to themselves, "I always kinda liked that guy. Woooo Christian!!!"
