Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 Raw Thoughts: It's probably just me, but Masters is starting to improve some. Shelton's momma comes to town. Again, I say this: Fuck you WWE Maria is now my third favorite Diva right now. The fourth favorite is Chloe. I'm starting to think that the WWE will never realize that Cena's not over. Even after his whole "Fuck the Troops" speech last week, the crowd still cheers for Kurt Angle. Face it WWE: Cena's not over as a face. All in all, a shitty edition of Raw. It probably would have been so-so if we didn't have to put up with this Shelton's Momma bullshit. Poor Shelton.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 Well, thing is they almost have to job Cena in the EC since if he goes over all 5 guys that leaves him with basically no challengers on the horizon (aside from the dreaded H Man). As far as this Vince/Shawn thing, I'm thinking it all turns out to be a swerve and they are in cahoots. Not even the dumbest mark can buy Shawn feuding with Vince...hell everyone knows Shawn's been his boy for well over a decade. Let's give it up for Kane though...dude has beaten HHH and Shawn in consecutive weeks! He's got his movie coming out...push this man!

hyperchord24 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 It was amazing to Cena really get booed basically from start to finish. If the definition of a heel is that poeple will pay money to see him get the crap kicked out of him, then, in my eyes, Cena is over as a heel. I mean, what a hot crowd. Where were they, Philly? Everytime Cena got on the offense, there'd be a quick pop, followed by resounding boos, EVERY time! They even popped for Divairi. If Cena comes out victorious on Sunday, I can't wait to see how badly the fans crap all over him. By the way, did anyone else notice how Cena was "interrupted" right as he was about to run down the other two faces in the match, HBK and Kane?
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 Much like with Justin Credible in ECW, the Masters main event push is inevitable so you might as well sit back and just let it happen. Then pray it doesn't bankrupt the promotion. The weird thing is, I can kinda see why they aren't jobbing Cena out. He IS actually drawing mega heat. Some from his few remaining supporters, and a lot from people who hate him and want him to lose. The Rock used to draw this sort of heat from the occasional crowd, but this is becoming the standard for Cena.

RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 I only saw a lil bit of it, but are they trying to make Victoria/Torrie/Candice into Mean Girls? They're like 50. Masters/Benjamin was almost passable. HHH managed to get over _more_ on the flubb, though his recovery disappointed me because he went right back to whatever he scripted for himself. Cena might be the most over heel in the company. The blood effect with Cena dripping on Angle was nice, it's clear the WWE is trying to fight against the boos with Cena, but the rap and the yelling didn't work. Wow Sheldons Mama was exactly what I think everyone expected her to be. They can't even write the stereotype well. "Don't you be eyeballin me"?? Good lawad. Styles really sucks at the hard sell. The cast won't get over, it didn't when Taker used it, it won't now. Why is anyone supposed to care about the Elimination Chamber? God this show sucks.
Guest Quik Report post Posted January 3, 2006 Bret Hart's gonna help HBK win the elimination chamber! Y'know, I kinda want to see Masters get the title. I think it'd be funny. Original champ bombs, they have to hotshot it, and it goes to someone who can barely speak OR wrestle. I might start watching again, it's so bad that it's compelling. It could only be made better by Masters turning face. Imagine the promos. CM: I'm the champ! I'm the MASTERPEICE! **Pauses for reaction** Crowd: **Silent** CM: Yeah! Play my music! Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 I actually enjoyed tonight's RAW to some degree, it was one of the better ones I've seen in a long time. Here was my assessment: *The HBK-Kane match wasn't that bad aside from Kane's choking and I actually liked the whole dilemma HBK had at the end of the match about whether to use Sweet Chin Music or not. *I don't understand the whole Lawler-Helms deal, but it was a fresh change of pace. I don't expect Lawler to eke out a win @ NYR, but knowing WWE you never know. However, I question the logic of giving Helms a push off of Lawler who didn't necessarily put on a classic w/Hassan last year...but it was Hassan. *Two segments with Trish! I don't care if they sucked, still good to see her on the TV. I think she'll probably lose the belt @ NYR which will make me angry, but whatever. *Victoria-Maria wasn't good and I could've called the finish from a mile away, but I did like that armbar Victoria put on b/c it looked like it literally hurt like hell. *The elimination chamber video packages and HHH-Big Show package was good. *I actually liked Edge's segment on Flair. Sure, the impersonation wasn't awesome but it still made me laugh. *I'm glad to see Shelton's going to get at least something out of this losing streak, but I hate this whole "mama" deal. Like why in the hell not bring in Charlie Haas or something to get Benjamin on the right track? I have to say that I still had hope that he'd get to the ropes from Master's "Masterlock." I guess when Benjamin finally wins it'll be a big markout moment for me. *Funny to see HHH screwed with by the production team. *Thought the first blood match was solid between Cena-Angle although I feared a draw when Angle was covering himself in blood. I fear how the crowd would've reacted to that kind of a finish. *Crowd was pretty hot tonight which is unique for RAW these days. Overall, good effort tonight and had more tolerable events than I remember in previous shows. People may disagree but that's just my assessment.
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Report post Posted January 3, 2006 Shelton's Mom and Trevor Murdoch should make sweet love.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 Murdoch is too busy doing his reviews of Brokeback Mountain. As far as this Lawler/Helms thing, I think I figured out why. Recall at Taboo Tuesday they had Coach wrestle so we could hear how Lawler/Styles did. Now we'll have Lawler wrestle so we can hear Coach/Styles. It's a bizarre audition to see whether to go with Coach or Lawler on color, under the guise of a heatless Lawler/Helms feud. Here's what I have to wonder: Is it really appropriate to say Cena is bombing as champ? As in is he failing to draw any money? Sell PPVs or merchandise? I do agree that Cena is accidentally getting the most heel heat in the company, but my god is there any actual heel that has any heat? In fact is there hardly anyone on the roster aside from maybe Batista and Rey that get the sort of reactions that are intended? Raw really needs Van Dam to come back right now. They need someone who is well liked by the crowd in a non ironic "Let's chant he sucks but cheer him during the match" kind of way, or gets iffy reactions due to his past screwjobs of others. What's funny is that some months ago I mentioned that I thought in a Cena/RVD match that RVD would get more of the crowd and people in here thought I was insane. Aero 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2006 (edited) I just got back from Raw, and it actually looked like a legit sell-out. With seven people, we ended up getting the cheap seats in the upper level. Since no creative signs would've been able to be seen all the way up there, we settled for a "Woooo!" chain sign, and added anti-Cena stuff to the back for the hell of it. Obviously, as it most likely came out on TV, the first 3/4 of Raw sucked. It was all about the main event. I couldn't believe how badly the crowd hated Cena tonight. I did tape it, so I'll watch it in a little bit. Besides a few rare adults, Cena's only fans were the girls and little kids. My whole group was hating on Cena the entire match. Obviously, we were thrilled when Angle won. After the show, more than half of the crowd was leaving. While the lobby was packed, we heard Vince's music, so a lot of people ran back. We only went back when we heard HHH's music. I didn't get to hear everything Vince said, but it ended up being a 3-way between Cena, Angle, and HHH, which Cena eventually won in less than 5 mins. About half an hour later, we stopped off at a rest stop off the turnpike, which was sort of crowded. Me and my brother were in the Burger King line, which has one of those systems where you just grab the burgers off of the heat chutes and go further down to pay. As we're waiting, BALLS MAHONEY walks up, waits about 10 seconds before saying "Fuck it", and he cuts everyone, grabs two Whoppers, and pays. As I was paying within the next few minutes, I see him inhale his two Whoppers at the counter with napkins and ketchup in about a minute. At that point, some lady recognized him and was talking to him with her maybe 10 year old kid. He seemed really nice, although he was obviously trying to rush out of there based on how he ate. He shook their hands and then asks the kid about his shirt: "You a Cena fan?" The kid says yeah, so Balls just makes the thumbs down and leaves.
