OAO Monday Night Raw Thread-1/15/2007

Recommended Posts

I think there was a point in time where Cena/Orton could have been a money match, and I saw them facing each other down the road, but now it doesn't look quite as compelling. They had some similarities. Both came to WWE around the same time, both started out as faces on Smackdown(Cena with his "ruthless aggression" & Orton getting "initiated" by Bob Holly), both eventually turned into cocky heels(Cena poking fun at other wrestlers such as Lesnar & Orton with his RNN segments coming off of injury), both won mid-card titles(Cena with the U.S. title & Orton with the I.C. title), somewhat similar wrestling styles, young, good looking etc...but now Orton's been buried numerous times and Cena hardly ever seems to lose. I would still have some interest in this match though because it's something different.

It's gonna be revealed that it's Shawn causing all these attacks, and he's secretly been working with Rated RKO to bring down Hunter~!

That'd actually be a good storyline, so it won't happen.

Hasn't that storyline already been used?

That would be stupid in this situation anyway.

The main-event was so stupid and crap. Perfect chance to finally kill DX and WWE chooses not to. There gonna have to do it some time.

KILL DX

What killed me about that whole "shoot" section is that they were harping on about every single thing people on here were bitching about.

Obviously they are hearing, somehow, the gripes of either their audience or their internet fans, I'm not sure.

Vince going out there and telling people, "I tell you what to like, you will like my skits, not wrestling"... I dunno.

Too pointed. Too pointed.

But then Khali came out & squashed Carlito/IWC, so that tells you what Vince thinks of those complaints.

I like the ending of the show... its just a build-up I'm guessing. They'll probably annihilate HBK next week so he can take some time off and then turn on each other.

I'm not a Cena mark or anything, but watching him FU people through tables never gets old for me. People are complaining that he once again made Umaga "not look like a monster". Well damn, even monsters can be killed, especially if you use a big enough weapon (i.e. steel ring steps). There's no way Cena is going to drop the belt to Umaga, he'd be the worst champion of all-time. Especially with his retard-speak and floral skirt.

Umm... what else... oh yeah! Torrie Wilson looked absolutely fucking hot.

Oh yeah, and Randy Orton's fish flop after the con-chair-to... ? wouldn't it make more sense just to be motionless? I mean, let's face it, there's selling it and then there's THAT.

Since the word "wrestling" was never uttered, it wasn't him listening. It was just the usual Vince response to those who disagree.

I remember seeing selling like that when I was a little kid. It's just part of wrestling, as stupid as it looks.

Also "Wouldn't it make more sense just to..." must be said in my head a thousand times every single time I watch it.

I actually enjoyed last nights Raw, maybe because last week was so bad it just had to get better, but i thought it DID have more action and less stupid skits. But I think Vince just feels we're fucking with him and that deep down we love his bullshit skits and they shall return ASAP.

Everyone keeps wanting HBK to take time off, but unless he's seriously injured can he really do that with HHH also out? Raw would be so depleted at that point that I'm not sure what they would do. Besides, you know he's going to want that WM paycheck if at all possible, so I say put him against Cena. He can put up a fight and lose the match, then take his time off and come back fresh. Then they have Cena vs. The Gay Gas Station Attendants.

What sense does it make for Cena to lay Umaga out now, on free TV, when that's the very thing meant to be the lure into making us want to pay for it? Once Cena knocked Umaga down, I don't think we saw Umaga again in that segment. It was certainly longer than a ten count from the time Cena left Umaga laying than when Cena FU'd AAA and paraded around triumphant.

And why does HBK need Hunter? Shawn had both of Rated RKO down and out, ran Edge off like a scared puppy and left Orton a mess, and this was after taking a 2-on-1 beating. If Shawn can do that on his own, why does he need Hunter?

I honestly thought that last night they were going to debut Daniel Rodimer in his next-gen Diesel role, just as a babyface, to save/help Shawn.

After the finish to RAW, I'm guessing his debut as the enforcer for Rated RKO will still happen, since the two of them couldn't handle Shawn on their own.

The finish to Raw makes me think they're laying the groundwork for Shawn to win the Rumble, and then the WWE Title at WM. And Shawn not needing anyone to handle RKO might also be a prelude to his turning on Hunter, as per the scenario I laid out in the Rumble thread; Shawn wins the title and then turns on Hunter, only now the catalyst is going to be Shawn realizing that he doesn't need Hunter.

Hmmm...that could work, actually.

Did anyone else find it a little silly that they tried to make it seem like Jim Duggan and HBK are great friends, even though that's never been mentioned on TV? At least they brought up some of their history together, I guess.

I did find the segment with Vince somewhat entertaining. I'm hoping they actually "get it", but they've disappointed us so many times before.

Which kind of sucks because in the process they are burying two guys, all the while giving HBK a "rub" he doesn't even need.

What they could do, is have Shawn win the title at Wrestlemania, then go heel and form a heel faction under the DX name, maybe using guys like Rodimer. There's your twist for when Triple H comes back.

Can I get a rundown of last night's Raw? I've been reading the posts left here last night, but a lot of it is grey to me.

Here's what I understand clearly:

Super Crazy with his ECW music beat Masters.

Cryme Tyme took on WGTT...on MLK Jr. Day.

Here's what I couldn't quite understand:

Did HBK go over clean? (I fear this answer, as it sounds like he did)

Did RKO argue with Edge as Raw went off the air? (Also sounds like)

Is Carlito really fired?(Smackdown) What was his connection, if any, with the Vince thing?

Vince with Khali vs Hogan with Trump got mentioned.....come on?

And no, no person alive wants to see Epic Movie.

Maybe HBK could come out and give some sort of rant about none of today's superstars have the balls to do what DX did in the 90's, maybe make a reference to the superbowl wardrobe malfunction and say ever since then, people have been walking on egg shells in fear of a fine. Then he could introduce Rodimer as a sort of protege, or at least a pet project kind of like the way Orton/Batista were for evolution....!?!

Not correct. Masterlock Challenge which Ron Simmons accepted. Ron flirted w/ breaking it, kinda faded, then Crazy came out & hit Masters, causing him to release the hold. Crazy hit a moonsault, then left.

Cryme Tyme took on WGTT...on MLK Jr. Day.

Tall Cryme Tyme (JTG, I think) took on Shelton. JTG won w/ an assist from the other Cryme Tyme.

Here's what I couldn't quite understand:

Did HBK go over clean? (I fear this answer, as it sounds like he did)

Ref called for the bell after Edge got a chair, don't know what the official decision was. Edge got hit w/ the chair, Orton ate a SCM (I think), Edge got out of the ring while HBK hit a 1-main conchairto on Orton.

Did RKO argue with Edge as Raw went off the air? (Also sounds like)

Edge watched the conchairto w/ a concerned look, and Orton twitched in the ring as the show ended.

Is Carlito really fired?(Smackdown) What was his connection, if any, with the Vince thing?

No. Vince was replaying the Trump/Rosey match & called down "Miss USA" (Torrie Wilson). Vince made with the lecherous intentions towards Torrie, which brought Carlito down to say the fans don't want lame skits, but instead good matches. Vince called out Khali, who squashed Carlito. There was no firing.

Vince with Khali vs Hogan with Trump got mentioned.....come on?

No mention of this.

And no, no person alive wants to see Epic Movie.

They've set themselves up nicely to build towards HBK/Cena at 'Mania.

- Have HBK beat a few more guys up like he did, showing a mean streak.

- Have Flair call him out because of it.

- Rumble: HBK/Flair opens the show; HBK wins, goes apeshit on Flair after the match and officially goes heel. Later, Shawn wins the Rumble.

- Shawn is rejuvenated; can Cena defeat the Heartbreak Kid at his best?

- For bonus deck-stacking, add Rodimer in the Diesel/Sid role.

Thoughts? It's certainly better than Umaga/Cena. Plus, you could break up Rated RKO and feud them with one another, with Orton holding a grudge against Edge for not helping him when HBK whacked him on Monday.

You really think they can get religious HBK to be more to the edge than he has in years........Shawn didn't like what they were doing with this DX I seriously doubt he'd be ok with going even further.

Alot of the things that would make Michaels an interesting heel I doubt he'd even want to do. Hell he could go into a rant about how the fans are blood thirsty and look what it's put him Flair and HHH through and then he could turn into overly religious zealout heel HBK but I doubt he'd want to do that either.

The Vince/Carlito segment was surreal. Carlito actually says what we all think, on-air, face to face with Vince. And then Khali comes out. This week Vince McMahon proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that either:

a) He does listen to the fans but really has no idea what they want to see, completely missing the irony of following Carlito saying "they want to see people fight" with a beat down by possibly the worst, most heatless pro wrestler going around.

or b) He doesn't listen and doesn't care and it isn't likely to change until the company is on the verge of going under. Maybe not even then.

Either way, its staggering that a man with such an attitude towards his consumers is the head of a publicly traded, multi-million dollar company.
