I don't think these films are hated, but I seem to enjoy them more then most.

 

The Exorcism of Emily Rose I liked that it was a mix of thriller and court room drama. The Priest being charged with murder and it coming down to Science Vs Religion in the court room. Laura Linney is underrated.

 

The New World I really liked the acting and the visuals of this film. The lack of dialog didn't bother me, but I know the movie dragged for some.

 

Matchstick Men Just a harmless comedy.

Broken Arrow: I don't think it's considered a really terrible film by anyone, but it's not that well known. John Travolta heels it up nicely. And apart from heathers, it's the best thing Christian Slater's ever done.

anyhow my list is

 

Vegas Vacation (my fav vaction movie by far , although xmas is really close as it is a yearly tradition to watch it) gotta love wayne newtons cameo, the cheap casino where they play pick a number and coin flip, the 1.49 buffett with blue chicken, "Nick Pappageorgio" Clark getting that blue toilet stuff all over his white suit oin the plane, then telling various people "oh my pen exploded" and "its just a birthmark", cousin Eddies rantings, and of course "I won, I won, I won the money, the money is mine!!!!" (this is osmething Ill always yell when im at a slot machine or play the lotto or whatever)

 

The Wedding Singer-underated Sandler comedy with a nice sense of heart to go with the inane goofiness and 80s references, plus Alexis Arquette as the Boy George wannabe, and Jon Lovitz' awesome cameo as the rival wedding singer (his rendtion of ladies night I always have to watch over and over)

 

The Scout- Fun baseball movie with Brendan Fraser and Albert brooks, with Brendan as the greatest baseball phenom ever, whos also pretty whacked out. great lines, various funny parts, my fav baseball movie besides Major League.

 

Fatso-Dom Deluise classic, "Have you ever sucked the jelly out of a doughnut and filled it with chocolate swirl ice cream?" need I say more?

X-Men: The Last Stand. People hate this, largely because it's not like the comics. But the action is awesome and unrelenting, the story is there and quite good and the movie never strays into cheesiness (something Spiderman 3 is guilty of) and the 90 minutes flies by. Easily the best of the X-Men movies. Easily.

No one cares that it didn't have anything to do with the comics. It was the weakest script wise, the characters not named wolverine were just kinda there. It was a cool action movie, but the first two were good movies. Easily the worse of the three. It wasn't horrible, but no way it was better than the first two.

Jason, thing is with a typical comic you can just skim the Peter/Mary Jane stuff if it's boring and get to the Doc Ock stuff you care about. Sitting in the theater though? You gotta put up with it. It's like the anti Batman series, which focus entirely too much on the heels and Batman is the afterthought.

 

There are a select few superhero movies that strike the right balance of hero development and villains. Batman Begins is good in that regard, X2, etc.

 

Thing is, if you hate that much of the Spidey comic, aren't you pretty much admitting you're going to hate that much of the movie? And you are assuming too much about the average reader. The reason Spidey has resonated for so long is that fans care about Peter's trials and tribulations that are amplified by whatever villain he is facing.

I enjoyed how they had, almost, every character purposely do things to suggest they are guilty just so the audience wouldn't know who the killer is.

I looked at the cover and said "Pacino,Spacey,Harris,Baldwin,Lemmon, I have to at least try this one." Great movie. Alec Baldwin's 5 minute part steals the show. I think the name of the movie is what keeps people from seeing it. Too bad because it's good stuff.

Okay I rewatched Spider-Man 2 last night and enjoyed it quite a bit more this time. It's wasn't as dreary, sappy, and preachy as I remembered it being. The first half was all very solid and the last half hour is all very exciting (from roughly Ock smashing the car through the window up until the finale). That said, there IS a very notable lull around the point where Peter tosses his Spidey costume in the trash, which includes the Aunt May speech that might be mostly what I remembered thinking was maudlin in the film. That 20 mins. or so drags enough to where I still don't enjoy it as much as the first movie.

Yeah some of these examples are really, really bad. Like The Wedding Singer is one of the two or three most popular Adam Sandler movies probably. It was popular enough to have it's own musical!

While everyone on the internet likes Glengarry, I don't think it is a well known film. I have mentioned it to people in the past and when they hear the title they shrug their shoulders saying "that sounds stupid". Oh well, their loss.

I thought Spidey 2 was pretty bleh. Dunst was moping around, Maguire was not offensive but nothing great and Doc Oc made me laugh quite a few times.

 

The Evil Dead tribute was sweet, though.

I'll throw Raise Your Voice onto this list. They've been showing it the past month on ABC Family, and I still love it.

I thought Match Point was brilliant. I don't think anybody else really cared for it though.

 

21 Grams and Fitzcarraldo are fantastic as well. Kinski is just tremendous, and laughably insane.

I thought Revenge of the Sith was pretty tight. I really don't know anyone who disliked it, at least not to the degree people hated Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

With some exceptions, I've found few who match my love of Gremlins 2.

 

Its cheesy, but I like both the story and much of the execution of Last Action Hero.

 

Not so much a film that's dissed, but one that's not talked about enough is Pleasantville. Good stuff by all parties involved, and the soundtrack/score is one of the best of the 90s.

It nearly is, just for the court scene alone. Moranis excels in that scene, and Spenglers forced laugh is incredible.
