foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 How is this list determined again? I can't figure out any way in which this guys were ordered considering guys like RVD, Carlito, Cor Von, and Finlay are many spots above Khali.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 The list is random, hell Malenko made number one years back. there's no way the same people that put him 1 could put Cena
AlexPuma 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 The only problems I have with this list: 101. The Great Khali Khali deserve to be in the top 40 at least. Yeah he sucks, but this list is half-kayfabe anyway. This guy had a main event feud with John Cena and won the World Title. That alone should put him above Carlito and Shelton Benjamin. 203. Domino 204. Ryo Saito 205. Danny Doring 206. Muerte Cibernetica 207. Deuce I can't imagine any universe that anybody would think that Domino is better than Deuce. Even blind marks know he sucks. cd213 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 For those that were wondering about the criteria and how long Cena has been #1: John Cena is ranked number one in the 2007 edition of the PWI 500. He was ranked number one last year as well. The other two wrestlers to be honored in two consecutive years as number one in the PWI 500 are Bret Hart and Steve Austin. Before we get to the list, here is a reminder of the criteria used for ranking the PWI 500, which is based on a grading period of August 2006 to July 2007. # Win-loss record # Technical Ability # Influence on the sport # Success against the highest grade of competition # Success against the most diverse competition # Activity
Taker666 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Noticed Matt Stryker is the very last WWE superstar on that list. I would think someone like Val Venis, Scotty 2 Hotty or even Funaki would be last. Stryker had a more active year than any of those guys. even a wrestlemania match.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 win-loss record? Yeah because every wrestler who has a match has a control over that.
Chalmation 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 too low: elijah burke, randy orton, c.m. punk, matt hardy, kane, chris masters, kevin thorne too high: bobby lashley, big show, sabu, ric flair
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2007 Malenko was #1 in 1997 because there was no one else who stood out that year to them. Austin probably should have been ahead of him though, besides his match with Bret he did win the tag titles with 2 different partners and also the IC title as well. I might have said UT in 1997 for #1, since he was WWF champion and had successful PPV title defenses vs. Mankind, Austin, Vader.

Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2007 I was wondering if half a year was enough to put Benoit in the top 500. Apparently not, although he could've gone out on a 6-month winning streak with every title and still been left off the list. And how does Angle fall behind Cena? Sure Cena's one reign lasted almost the entire year but Angle held way more belts. He was the tag team champions by himself for a few weeks, that's gotta put him over the top. He was the tag team champions by himself for a few weeks, that's gotta put him over the top. Because the PWI 500s grading period was between August 2006 and July 2007. Angle didnt have the Tag or X titles until August 12, 2007. He was also only the TNA World champion for a month when the grading period was over, Cena had the WWE Title the entire time. That's all I got to say about that. I think if a wrestler is deceased he is off the list. If a wrestler had a name change, is retired, or in the worst-case scenario, deceased, then regardless what he did in the 12 months that the issue is based on, he is no longer considered for the PWI Top 500 and is listed under a separate section indicating what his status is. Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2007 The thing with Dean Malenko gets discussed every year. Basically in kayfabe terms, Malenko was the most active upper level champion in North America that year. He held multiple titles and wrestled the whole year, while guys like Austin, Hogan, and Hart all had long stretches of inactivity.
Boxer 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2007 It's funny the OP said that wal-mart broke the street date, because I took a look at it from my library on Friday. The list really has some headscratchers here on where they are ranked. I don't really like the comparison of Cena with Austin and Hart, but I guess different strokes for different folks.
