Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 No boxing fans I know are ordering and a few didn't even know of the Mayweather match. I usually order but there's not much on it this year that interests me besides Flair. If it's not raining around here I'll be at a softball tournament anyway. That's surprising to hear about the Mayweather match. It seems like I've been bombarded by advertising for that match.
Dandy 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 And as far as lightning interfering with the ladder match, as long as they are using aluminum ladders it won't be a problem. But, the WWE uses only steel for their ladders, chairs, steps, etc.
Garth 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I'm pretty excited for the event, having a bit of a get together. As it stands there will be about eight of us watching. Going to do the usual of ordering in some pizzas, getting lots of junk food and make a real night of it. Most of my friends that are coming aren't huge fans or anything but are coming because it'll be a fun little get together. They've all showed some level of interest in the past so hopefully everyone should enjoy. There's enough going on to keep a hold of their attention be it the high spot MITB, or nostalgia in the vein that everyone knows Undertaker and the like. Will be fun. HollywoodSpikeJenkins 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I think the perfect ending to Mayweather/Big Show would be for Rock to show up, hit a spinebuster and a peoples elbow on Big Show and let Mayweather get the cover. You get Rock on the show and involved in the biggest storyline going into WM, Mayweather goes over and Big Show doesn't look bad. Everybody wins.
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Well Rock basically had to move mountains to even do the Hall of Fame ceremony so I don't believe he can make Wrestlemania. Why would he even get involved in that match anyway?
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Two things I want from Show / Mayweather: 1. The mythical Giantsault 2. A Shooting Star Press from Mayweather.

Why would he even get involved in that match anyway? To have the big celebrity crossover. I'm just speculating, but since Rock will be at the Hall of Fame ceremony, I don't think he would turn down a big pay check to get some press and work with Mayweather. I don't see Big Show going over, but how else can they have Mayweather win without making Show look like a joke?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I'll be there live, hopefully dodging raindrops and lightning strikes. This will be my 5th Mania and 3rd straight. Dames

I don't see Big Show going over, but how else can they have Mayweather win without making Show look like a joke? I believe The Rock has made it clear he has to fly back to a movie shoot immediately after the Hall of Fame ceremony. Rumors of him appearing at Wrestlemania will be on the same level of Bret Hart making an appearance the day after his induction. The best way to have Big Show save face is for outside interference to cost him the match. If Rey is up to it, I wouldn't be shocked if that's who they use, although then it would be someone who is probably just as small as Mayweather taking down "the biggest athlete in the world". If they weren't planning on keeping Big Show heel, I'd say have the Money in the Bank Winner (MVP or Kennedy) do the run-in and set up a mini-feud with Big Show before they challenge a world champion. sluggo 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I don't think Rock would even try a move in the ring because if he gets hurt, Vince would be sue'd out of business. Rock's last match would be WM 20?
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Dames where did you sit last year? Also the latest report (and excuse me if I forget to credit Meltzer for the weather) is 10% chance of rain.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I'm calling it right now, 50 CENT is going to interfere and help Mayweather win the match!
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 I guess someone from Mayweather's camp said he can't comment on what's going to happen but "no one will see it coming". My Mayweather SSP sounds more likely by the day!
Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 I think Big Show will end up losing the match to Mayweather because of excessive blood loss. That way you don't have show ko'd or tko'd and put him over as having heart against a legitimate boxer while Mayweather comes out looking like he "took it to a 7 foot monster". Canadian Brandon 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 I'm loving this card. Every match has potential. This is the third straight Mania that I have ordered, and I am more excited about this one than 22 or 23.

Wrestlemania is the only PPV I'll ever consider buying, and this year seems pretty much a lock for me.
AntiLeaf33 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 This will be my second straight year ordering WrestleMania, and I gotta say, I'm looking forward to the event. I was a little worried at first because the time on my guide was all fucked up, but now it has it lasted as the correct time, so I should be good to go. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 Good news for me: Cogeco here FINALLY fixed the PPV schedule to accommodate Mania's correct runtime. Extra bonus: It's the first WWE PPV being shown on the HD PPV channel in this market (which of course makes $10 more than they already costly $54.99). But, like I mentioned in another thread, I was fortunate enough to leave an Indiana casino with some money that will easily cover this cost. Should be fun. Darthtiki 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 I'm looking forward to this mania. Unfortunately, I won't get to be able to watch it with the usual gang (NoCalMike, Ced, DA...etc) this year.
The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 I may order it...but mostly out of habit. I'm just not feeling it. I don't know what it is...I assume it's the dread of seeing the same people on top after the show is over.
Aero 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 While I agree that the build to a good portion of the matches hasn't been great, most of the matches do have a lot of potential. Matches I'm looking forward to most: 1. HBK vs. Flair: I was already excited for it just being (likely) Flair's final match, but the developments from Monday have me really hyped. HBK almost never has a bad WM match these days. 2. Show vs. Mayweather: It actually happened today when two non-wrestling fan friends actually started talking about this. Minus the one week where Mayweather did his live interview weeks ago ("Go get the jet"), I've enjoyed the build. I assume Show doesn't have a shot at winning, but I'm really curious to see how this turns out. 3. Finlay vs. JBL: The story behind the match sucks, but the last few weeks' build makes it seem like Finlay wants to kill JBL. Finlay had a pretty good brawl with Kane on TV in the summer, so I think this could be great. The only match I really have no interest in is Bunnymania. Haven't missed a WM since 1997, so there's no reason to start now.

RedJed 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 While I think the build has been mostly shit for Mania except for Flair/Michaels and the limited (but extremely effective) angles they did for Mayweather/Show, I am still definately looking forward to the show. I would fully expect probably three to four matches that get near or at **** here, probably MITB, Taker/Edge (which I would predict as the match not expected to stand out but will somehow), Flair/Michaels, and Cena/HHH/Orton). More than anything, as weird as this sounds, I'm super interested how the actual presentation of Mania will be, from the HD viewpoint of the "spectacle" that is Mania to the set designs all over the stadium, to the possibility of storms in the background, etc. I dont know what the capacity of the Citrus Bowl is, but if they actually get the place moreless sold out (even papered) it will be a site to see. Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2008 Just posted by WWE.COM regarding the TBS/Mayweather event The official rules have just been announced for the battle between Big Show and Floyd “Money” Mayweather at WrestleMania XXIV, though above all else, one fact will be made certain this Sunday night: There MUST be a winner in this match. The only way one of these two warriors will earn a victory at The Granddaddy of Them All is by pinfall, submission or knockout. Anything goes in this historic match-up between WBC welterweight champion Mayweather, and former WWE, ECW and WCW Champion Big Show. With Big Show standing 7 feet and 441 pounds – nearly three times the weight of the 5-foot-8, 159-pound Mayweather – not to mention the nearly one-foot difference in arm reach, their physical disparities are more than evident. With no rules, however, this personal rivalry is now anybody’s game for the taking in Orlando’s Citrus Bowl. Will Big Show use the rules, or lack thereof, to deliver on his promise to end the career of Floyd Mayweather? Or can “Money” cash in on a way to bring down the Big Show in front of 70,000 of our fans? The answer will become clear this Sunday night at WrestleMania XXIV, LIVE and on pay-per-view, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
