Comments that don't warrant a thread

Recommended Posts

Not sure if this applies to all Time Warner customers, but yesterday they added USA HD as well as Olympic basketball and soccer channels in HD. Not sure if USA HD is going to get yanked once the Olympics are over or not.

I wrote a story about this for my newspaper and talked with the Northeast Ohio media relations rep for TWC. He said there were no plans to continue USA HD past the Olympics. It's pretty asinine. You're basically saying, "Yes, we have the capability of showing more HD channels, including the No. 1 cable channel in the country, but we're just not going to anyway."

I hate this company.

One of the annoying things about being a Canadian is they like to push their own wares first, so I don't know when (if ever) we'll get a Spike HD channel so TNA's jump to HD will mean nothing to me when it happens. They have 100 channels (700-799) allotted for HD spots and the only US cable station they have is A&E - and they INSIST on airing everything stretched out. Where's my CNN Headline News HD feed to watch Robin Meade on? Come now, Cogeco.

I'm not sure what any of that had to do with WWE comments that don't warrant a thread, but hey, we were talking HD.

USA is the No. 1 cable channel? In that case, my cable company is embarrassing too, as they still don't have USA in HD. I hate my fucking cable company!

From HHH's return in 2002 until about 2004, was HHH hell bent on destorying any WCW main eventer or talent? I mean he ran through Booker, Nash, Goldberg and Steiner. Granted, those were spectacular matches, but anyone think he personally wanted to beat all those guys to make them look bad?

My mini house show report..like we need 2 on one page..

Matt Striker got Squashed by Kane. Matt Striker with the line of the night in response to the crowd chanting you suck - "You suck isn't a complete sentence! It needs a subject. You suck (blank)!"

D-Lo Brown beat Charlie Haas in a respectable match with the Lo Down. Haas got a lot of cheap heat by picking on a kid (I think) in the front row. Lots of people didnt know who D Lo was but he still got a good reaction.

Snitsky beat James Curtis in his farewell match I am assuming. Crowd hated the match as Curtis got in a good deal of offense and drug the match out to about 7 minutes. Some "smark alecks" in the crowd that gave Curtis a standing ovation as he got up to leave the ring.

Match of the night unfortunately (?) was Regal beating Jamie Noble in a decent back and forth match. Noble got the crowd behind him early and there was an excellent back and forth pin exchange that got a good reaction from the crowd considering who was in the match.

Kofi Kingston defeated Santino Marella. Prematch Santino got on the mic and was talking about his new awesome finishing move, the Mazzarati (inaudible) (I think it might have been drop or drive). He went for it (only know because he showed what he would do when he was ready to do it) but Kofi blocked it. Kofi was probably the 2nd most over wrestler on the card behind Cena too, but I think hes overdoing the triple hand slap thing, which he did like 8 or 9 times.

Mickie James beat Katie Burchill in a pretty decent womens match.

John Cena defeated Priceless in a 2 on 1 handicap match. Cena got beat on early by Dibiase, who was in for the majority of the match. Cena makes his miracle comeback and gets Rhodes to tap to the STFU. I think Dibiase tried to leave but Cryme Tyme chased him back to get FUed. Several people in my section were the anti Cena crowd but it really never caught on as it was probably 95% Cena marks.

CM Punk beat Jericho in a no DQ match. All I can say is that I was very disapointed in the match given the potential it had to be really good. Being no DQ ruined it. Jericho running around with the bell hammer trying to hit Punk with it was funny. Jericho had Punk in the Walls for a good while but Punk managed to get to the ropes.

Crowd was almost split even though Jericho heeled up on the mic before the match.

Overall it was barely average show that wasnt helped out very much by a really dead crowd (aside from Kofi/Cena) and some sound system problems that garbled the mic and music up.

Interesting things:

I think we got Kurt Angle's last WWF match when we had a ECW House show about 2 years ago, so James Curtis is in elite company... Kelly Kelly has been at all 3 shows we've had in the last 2 years (ECW, SD, RAW). She was roaming the crowd today giving away spots as managers and bell ringers. Kofi wrestled here back in January before he showed up on TV and got almost no reaction, and a mere 8 months later he was the 2nd popular wrestler behind Cena...amazing. Kane squashed Striker here back in January at the SD house show...bleh.

Those matches were spectacular? Hell, out of those guys, I think Nash had the best match with him. The match with Booker at WM was sad and embarrassing, while the match against Goldberg at Unforgiven had no momentum since Goldberg should have won at SS, and the match with Steiner at the Rumble was one of the worst matches of all time. I don't really think HHH was trying to make just WCW guys look bad, I think he tried to make everyone look bad, such as RVD and Kane. I think it looked like he was only trying to bury WCW guys because Vince signed a lot of those guys in that time period, and wanted to main event them, but HHH obviously wasn't going to put them over.

Was this before or after the releases were announced? Because developmental Johnny Curtis was working the house show circuit recently.

Different wrestler.

What are you talking about? Booker T carried Triple H to a pretty solid match at Wrestlemania...

How did Booker T carry him?

It was a solid match, but not a carry job by any means

It's been years since I've actually seen the match, but from what I remember Booker T was the only busting his ass making the match worthwhile. This was HHH in his "I don't have to bust my ass" stage, remember?

I'm guessing Punk defends the title against Batista again or Kane.

HBK Vs. Y2J for the 1,247,968th time.

I've got nosebleed seats for Survivor Series (I was late getting around to buying tix, damn WWE business doing well again). The seats will be fine, but I've been spoiled by ROH live events where the action is so intimate and right there in front of you.

I'm the same way thanks to Chikara.

Umm are they stealing Cena's thug gimmick or something?

I believe it was a vignette filmed before he was released, what they were planning to do with him but decided against for whatever reason.

Well, I didn't say the match with Booker/HHH was bad, but considering the storyline of that feud, and knowing HHH would bury him, it was just sad to watch.

Just curious, did you post at Allhiphop.com?

That Domino vignette was pretty interesting, but yeah, it was a total ripoff of Cena's thug gimmick a few years ago. Thats the reason why they decided against it, because it would remind people of how cool Cena used to be.

That Domino vignette seemed like it may have been something he did himself to try to create his own new gimmick of sorts, before he ended up getting released. For what its worth, I like it.

Shit, that was sort of entertaining...wasn't he the more talented of the two between him and Deuce?

No doubt. Deuce pretty much only has greater size and the fact that he's Jimmy Snuka's son going for him. I thought Domino had by far better charisma and far more potential; he actually made something really fun out of the Kozlov squash he was in by selling like a motherfucker and trash talking even after he'd already been schooled in the early goings.
