I lament the loss of the seafood salad. There's still one Subway near my camp which had it the last time I visited it but that was eight months ago or so. I hadn't seen it in years before that.

In its place Tuna on Honey Oat with lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos, and a little bit of olive oil. Makes my breath stink on ice but its deliciousness makes it worth it.

I thought I was an odd one, putting jalapeno on tuna to spice it up, but almost everyone has answered "jalapeno" as a topping.

Has anyone ever tried the lobster sub? I thought they discontinued it because it was obscenely expensive for a "fast food" sandwich, but I guess it's just an LTO deal that's back again.

I don't think there's a lobster salad sub at Subways down here. And if they had a lobster salad sub anywhere- it'd be here. McDonalds has one and as expected, it's pretty terrible. It's basically mayo and a shitton of lettuce on a hot dog bun with a little sliver of lobster. I'm not a McDonalds hater but they should have never attempted anything like this. Not when you can get a better lobster roll pretty much anywhere else for a two or three bucks more this time of year.

The Lobster sub is only at the Subways in Canada. $11.99 for a footlong.

Anyways I get a Meatball sub.

Parmasean Oregano bread.

Meatballs

White Chedder (or American)

Hot Sauce

Chipotle Sauce

It's like 16-17 bucks in Calgary. Not that the expense is the reason I wouldn't try it - the fact that it is lobster on the prairies from Subway is the primary one there.

I wonder if it's the cheapest thing on the menu in the Maritimes?

I'll get the occasional craving for a hot sub*. Thus,

Hot: Buffalo chicken. Stupid amount of hot sauce. Cheddar, mayo (a surprisingly good accident), little lettuce, pickles. On Italian Herb & Cheese.

Cold: Turkey, ham, and bacon. Cheddar again, little lettuce, pickles, cucumbers, mayo, sub sauce, honey mustard. Again, on Italian Herb & Cheese.

*Very, very seldom will I have a hot sub. On the other hand, I'd much rather have a hot sandwich or burger/chicken breast sammich than a sub.

I've been wondering- who calls it "filling"? Pies have filling. Sandwiches do not. Must be a term common only outside of America.

That being said, I will usually go for the sweet onion chicken teriyaki, tuna, Italian BMT, Subway club, or cold cut combo on wheat, jalapeno, or Parmesan oregano with pepperjack cheese, lettuce, onions, bell peppers, and jalapenos. Red wine vinaigrette dressing goes on the latter three.

LOL. I didn't list every possible combo. I just listed several types of breads and sandwiches I get. The "fillings", as it were, are always the same- pepperjack cheese, lettuce, bell peppers, jalapenos, and onions.

Subway Club toasted on Toasted Garlic with

- lots of lettuce, lots of onion, pickles, carrots, sweet peppers and either thin line of SW sauce or liberal amounts of honey mustard

I only get Subway when they have coupons though...otherwise I get heros at a local place TJ's Hero Shop. Their best sub is the Louisiana Lightning, which is lettuce, onion and tomato with Cajun chicken and their Stealth sauce (a spicy 1000 Island-esque sauce, think 1000 Island meets Taco Bell's hot sauce meets Frank's Red Hot meets Subway's SW sauce)

Two sandwiches I do...

Roast Beef on Whole Wheat with Mustard, Chipotle sauce, Tomatoes, Onions, and Banana Peppers (I have begged them to bring back the horseradish sauce)

Tuna on Monterrey Cheddar with Provolone, Light mayo, Sweet Onion, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Spinach, and black pepper

Found a Subway on Sunday in VA that sold the Seafood Salad.

It was written up on the menu in marker.

Yeah, I got it.

Girl took out a thing of Old Bay for me to make it extra good.

From, like, under the counter.

Turkey, chedder cheese (sometimes American because I don't care for their shredded chedder), and mustard on wheat bread.

This thread reminded me why I think the idea of the restaurant being a healthy option was inaccurate. No one here claimed they were eating there for the health benefits, but I've known people to get some of the sandwiches listed here and think they're going healthy. Looking at the nutritional contents of subs like the tuna and seafood were enough to talk me out of ever ordering them.

To be fair Subway is only healthy if you order only one of like 6 sandwiches with no oils, etc. I actually laugh when I'd see Jared's cut out at Subway and order my Meatball.

I don't think it's too bad if you're eating the right portions. One good thing about Subway, particularly in comparison with Quizno's, is that they make their sandwiches to be more veggie than meat. I always get the tuna, and just the other day I put jalapeno on it, with onions, bell pepper, black olives, Monterey cheddar and swiss, lettuce, pickles, and grated carrots. I did it toasted and it all came out pretty spectacular.

I always have to explicitly state "extra" whenever it comes to any of the veggies. Otherwise, the alleged sandwich artist does something like lay out a single strand of green peppers across the sub. They'll give you all the damn mustard you can handle and then some, though. Yuck.
