Just John Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Ever since the advent of promos, certain wrestlers have had trademark words or lines that they try to include in most promos. Sayings like "Whatcha gonna do, when Hulkamania runs wild on you," "And that's the bottom line," and "Do you smell what the Rock is cooking" were wildly successful. Unfortunately, some wrestlers experimented with new phrases that weren't so popular and were quickly abandoned. Some continued to use their horrible lines. What are you're thoughts on the worst catchphrases ever? Shawn Michaels - "Neeeeeeeew world heavyweight champion" Sting - "It's showtime" Rock - "Shut up juice"
Youth N Asia Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Brain Christopher: "If you don't know me! Then you ain't my homey!"
BUTT Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Shane Douglas: "THAT'S A FACT....THAT'S A FACT..........THAT'S A FACT.....JAAAAAAAACKAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS!!"
Youth N Asia Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 John Cena: "And that's Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay." That shit got annoying, glad he dropped it.
Papacita Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 "How ya like me now"-Hardcore Holly "And that's the last word"-Big Show Rock's one catchphrase..."How ya lips feel?" or something like that.
Youth N Asia Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 I don't care for Holly. But I liked his "Big Shot" gimmick. "You see the Big Show, you tell him THE BIG SHOT is lookin for him."
Papacita Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Yeah, he was great as the Big Shot. His first month or so with Crash was cool too. As for catchphrases, Tazz-"Thug life born, thug life bred and when I die I'll be thug life dead"
Nighthawk Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 "What?" Not under the 'never caught on' category, obviously. At it's core, it was magnificent, one of the greatest catchphrases ever. Then it was destroyed so utterly from overuse that it became one of the worst. It's really only suited for a super heel characterization as well. In a few years when nobody remembers it anymore, I'm going to start using it for myself.
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 The funniest What moment was probably when Undertaker tricked the crowd into saying they slept with their sisters. A chant that never caught on...Thank God. "You are...an asshole!" Who could forget...the GREATEST CATCHPHRASE EVER!!!! "Tag." Ok, so it really isn't a phrase, but DEAR GOD IT WAS FUNNY.
CanadianChick Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 John Cena: "And that's Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay." That shit got annoying, glad he dropped it. I loved that! Man, you got no taste.
Papacita Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 Does CLB count. Lord knows I've never seen anybody work so hard to get a saying over.
CanadianChick Posted June 4, 2004 Report Posted June 4, 2004 How about Jeff Hardy's "I-magi-nation" thing? I don't think that quite got over, seeing as it was the same thing as Team Extreme Jeff Hardy.
Guest netslob Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 John Cena: "And that's Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay." That shit got annoying, glad he dropped it. I loved that! Man, you got no taste. he completely ripped that off of Stuart Smalley.
deancoles Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Sid Vicious using WWF stuff like "The Millennium Man" and "gimme a hell yeah" didn't catch on but it was damn funny to listen to.
Mrnoitaull Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Don't cosider this a catchphrase but when Test considered him and Booker T " TNT" I thought they were on to something great.
RepoMan Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 The whole "Test"icles thing never went anywhere.
tommytomlin Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Booker T's 'Save the drama, for yo mama' in 2000 WCW.
razazteca Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Shane Douglas "Is the real deal" just insert a member's name of the revolution before or after that statement.
ISportsFan Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Right before Austin started doing "What?" incessantly, he had his paranoid character saying "My name is Stone Cold Steve Austin, and I am the World Wrestling Federation Champion" all the time. I felt it was good, since that's all he cared about. Then he started the "What?" and it went downhill. Jason
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Saturn's "What're you lookin' at?"
Guest Man Of 1,004 Modes Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 More like a funny line, because it wasn't really a catchphrase... "I'm gonna lay the smackdown, on his crippled ass!" Anytime someone used Rock's catchphrases sucked.
Brocklock Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 More like a funny line, because it wasn't really a catchphrase... "I'm gonna lay the smackdown, on his crippled ass!" NWO Style!! I think and hope Popcorn fart doesn't get big.
stahl Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Cenas "Deez nuts" never got over and he tried for like a month or so in his raps.
DCMaximo Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 "Out with evolution-in with The Revolution" Man, that was a heat-killing stable
Lil' Bitch Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Undertaker's Respect Frenzy ("You will respect The Undertaker. You will respect me. I demand respect., etic.) "Give me a Doo-wah-ditty-ditty-dum-ditty-doo!" - Chris Jericho, I wish they made a shirt out of that.
Use Your Illusion Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Taker's 'respect' gimmick wasn't really all that much of a catch phrase as such. However, he did go on a bit with it. UYI
Youth N Asia Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 Headbangers: "And if you're not down with that, we got two words for ya. YOU SUCK!" Headbangers kicked ass. I miss those guys. TAKA: "Because we are eeeeeeevilllllll..." Funaki: "Indeeeeeeeed." With the exception of a few signs in the crowd and some squash matches that never did much for them, I loved it.
Toxxic Posted June 5, 2004 Report Posted June 5, 2004 DAMN RIGHT! Kaientai were AWESOME! Oh, and Farooq's "Damn!"
