-- Hooters, which at many locations nationally had been airing WWE PPVs, has made a decision to not carry the WWE events any more. A manager at Pat McNeill's local Hooters said it was a national decision made from the corporate heads. For Torch Newsletter readers, that means the end of McNeill's "At the Bar for the PPV" columns unless another establishment picks up where Hooters left off.

I can confirm this. When we went to watch New Year's Revolution, the manager told us that the corporate office decided not to renew their contract. So, we had to call chip in cash to order it at my house.

A sad day, indeed.

I only saw one PPV at a Hooters, and even then it wasn't on purpose. It was the Hooters in Manchester, which is in a hotel, and I was at the hotel bar having a drink to kill time before meeting up with a date.

There were so many people in the Hooters that they opened the door-thingy that separated the Hooters from the hotel bar. Sadly, the only match that I saw was Mordecai versus someone (maybe Holly?).

I saw Wrestlemania 18 at Hooters. You should've heard the marks heckling each other during the Hogan/Rock match.

A couple of friends went to watch NYR and was told that they weren't showing the PPV. I didn't really like Hooters to watch PPVs (too many marks/people watching football), but it was nice for a last resort.

And I know, myself, that I am a cheap bastard and bought a drink or maybe some fries when I was at Hooters. Everything else was too expensive.

I didn't hear anything about this at my Hooters, they still showed NYR, and the girls said see you in a couple weeks, which I assumed meant for the Rumble.

I saw WM 20 there. The place EXPLODED when Benoit won, bigger than anything else that night.

Shame.

I didn't watch the ppvs at Hooters, but I did watch them at a local sports bar called "Players" I have been watching the PPVS there for about the last five years or so. I December PPV was the last of them though because the manager said that WWE was raising the cost of licensing for the sportsbars too high for them. It sucks, but we worked out a pretty good plan for the ppvs in the future.

I went to Hooters for the first (and maybe last now) time ever last year to watch Wrestlemania. It was a really cool atmosphere and I was planning to head there with a couple friends to see the Rumble. Bloody hell.

My Local hooters didn't air it either nor did the local BW3's which was odd since they did great business on those shows. even the shitty ppvs.

I'm sure they'll make an exception for Mania though.

The BW3's where I live didn't show NYR due to "satellite problems", according to a friend that went there to see it. I've made plans to watch the Rumble from there, so hopefully this isn't a recurring theme.

Yeah, this sucks. When I'm at home between semesters, I meet a friend or 2 at the local Hooters to watch the show (since even with ordering food its cheaper than splitting the PPV at home) and when we walked up to the door for NYR, we were discourgaed to see a notice that said they would no longer be showing WWE PPVs. I had no intentions of wanting to order this show but we were pretty bummed so I agreed to split the show with my buddy and we watched it at my place.

Don't know why they would make this decision though as WWE nights definitely garnered huge crowds (thats a lot of ordered wings and beer that wouldn't be there otherwise), but I guess it has something to do with WWE raising their rates. Oh well. Its getting less and less easier to legally watch WWE PPVs between this and the raising of the webcast price...

I've always gone to BW3s to see PPVs.

This sucks.

Hooters PPV's hold a special place in my heart. I remember it being a shining beacon the day I moved to Seattle in April 01, and caught WMXVII in my new hometown...it was quite the day/night.

I've seen maybe 15-20 there since, have taken my friends, my girlfriend, etc....lots of memories.

The funny thing is....I HATE HOOTERS! THE FOOD SUCKS! THE BEER IS OVERPRICED!!! THE GIRLS ARE REALLY NOT GOOD LOOKING, AND, ARE REALLY SNOBBY AND ANNOYING!!!

But, the memoires are good.

Oh well...

Anybody in Seattle want to show the Rumble? I'll pay....

As bad as some of the ppvs are, it was the one time a month that I got to see a bunch of friends that I don't see that much at other times, due to work, school, schedule etc......The sportsbar showing the ppvs was one thing that we all marked on our calendar to attend. Good thing we came up with a good plan on the fly for PPVs until we find another place.

Care to share your plan? Maybe for the sake of others?

What's being overlooked here is basically WWE is responding to sagging PPV buyrates by raising prices and making it harder to watch their PPVs.

Truly Vince is the most brilliant mind of our time.

EXACTLY. Well, there WAS one cute girl, but honestly, I've encountered girls just as attractive at Red Robin and there's no sleazy feeling there.

And the food is way too expensive. I would never buy Hooters food with my own money.

Oh well, it is nothing special. I mean we have a group of about 8, and I guess their cable/satellite subscriber allows you to buy the next 3 WWE PPVS at once for a discounted rate, which we did, so we are basically splitting the cost 8 ways, and then with the daily food specials EVERYWHERE, we will seemingly come away with full stomachs for less then the sportsbar would charge anyway~! :)

I've seen some total knock-outs there, but I've also seen some total dogs there. I think it just depends on what night you're there.

WWE is just going to price themselves out of the PPV market if they keep up with it...seems like they raise their prices every year. It's not like their product is so hot right now that they can justify it, either.
