tbondrage99 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Well I have to admit that I found these guys rather entertaining myself. Always nice to see an attempt to add to the tag division.
Guest netslob Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 the funniest part for me was the look on Regal and Tajiri's faces when they came out. they had these dumb-founded, confused looks, like "You mean we have to actually touch these two?" priceless.

Im right with you there on that one. Regal has always had some of the best facial expressions in wrestling, right up there with Vince.
iggymcfly Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I just don't really know if jobbing to Tajiri and Regal was the best way to introduce them. I mean, you've got the established champions issuing an open challenge, and then winning clean over the rookies. I don't really see how that leads into a hot feud.

They can say they were a little over-excited and nervous in their first match on Raw, and want a rematch at Backlash, where they win the titles.
Guest RVB Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I hope they will wind up getting It's Raining Men as their theme again, like they had in OVW. I can see them becoming pretty popular, they have a great gimmick and entrance, and they will get better in the ring once they have a bit more time.
King Cucaracha Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 For you stating they overact, that's the whole point of the gimmick. For instance, in OVW they did a video working out to "Let's Get Physical". Great TV. They need to show that some time in the next few weeks. The only thing, along with "It's Raining Men", is having to pay to use the song. It's a different matter using a licensed song in OVW than it is WWE. The one thing I don't get is why they didn't keep Rico around to manage these two.
nl5xsk1 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Why did they bring in this team when the gimmick could of been done by a pair of Smackdown jobbers like say Scotty 2 Hotty & Shannon Moore? If they'd used two 'established' wrestlers, people would have been on their ass for not using two guys from OVW. Damned if they do. Damned if they don't.
Guest MikeSC Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Of course, I couldn't help but notice that these "rookies" already had an entrance video. When the hell did they ever appear on Heat, as they clearly appeared to have been on in their video? -=Mike ...Great gimmick. Terrific intro. Not good in the ring right now...
MillenniumMan831 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I must have been among the few that thought they were alright in the ring. They never looked too out of their league although they certainly appeared to have butterflies (who wouldn't?). They were more about being entertaining than putting on a wrestling clinic but I thought they 'worked' a great match for a debut.
natey2k4 Posted April 19, 2005 Author Report Posted April 19, 2005 For the amount of time they had, I thought the match was solid. No it wasn't great, but they seemed to pull off their moves crisply. They inserted the gimmick alot, which was the right thing to do for the Debut, to make the fans care. The Great match can come at Backlash were the match gets more than 4 minutes.
Mrnoitaull Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Yeah they did remind me alot of Chuck and Billy I may be Oding it but I thought it was quite funny when Tajiri totally missed the spinning heel kick so he kick Heartthrob #2 in the face.
Jobber of the Week Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 It's another gay gimmick. They're just acting like Grandmaster Sexy instead of Chuckabilly. I didn't think the guys were so great so much as Coach was dropping the hint but not being blatantly obvious about it. "He goes in! He goes out!"
Open the Muggy Gate Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Put the Heatthrobs with Viscera and have them tour various local spots around the towns they go to. The segments could be GOLD.
Guest krazykat72 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Besides "It's Raining Men", they also need to bring up Mo Greene(Lamont). He's *great* as their manager. -Paul Jacobi-

The only new talent worth supporting is Hassan w/Davari and Simon Dean the others don't deserve to be on cable tv.
RavishingRickRudo Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 They should do a HHH/Batista II-esque video package for HT vs. TR II
B. Brian Brunzell Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I loved the Heart Throbs from the second their music hit. They do the gay gimmick muc better than B & C and Too Much. And thei'r dance upon entering the ring was GOLD~!

And thei'r dance upon entering the ring was GOLD~! Hey you got the name right, they looked liked TOO MUCH not TOO COOL (too much was the original incarnation of the brian and scotty, a cocky and arrogant yet slightly gay entrance) However they are much more over the top then too much and B and C put together. I agree that they really need to start using video pacakages and vignettes before debuting these guys. They did it with Carlito and Masters, why not these guys? or MNM for that matter. anyhow, at least WWE is adding more actual tag teams to the rosters. and if they really want to use its raining men, they should just have their studio singers do it (but maybe they are cover charges for that?) or beter yet then, a knockoff song.
iliketurtles Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I liked Lillian: "Romeo and...whoistheotherguy...ANTONIO!"
Jobber of the Week Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 You guys asking for "It's Raining Men" and other things, although it may go with the regular gimmick, may ruin what could be an otherwise decent gay gimmick by making it flamboyant and obvious. An ambiguously gay duo would be a much more interesting course for the WWE than yet another "gay people wear face paint and thrust their crotches in every direction and blow kisses to male plants in the crowd, or at least Vince says so" angle.

The Czech Republic Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 Besides "It's Raining Men", they also need to bring up Mo Greene(Lamont). He's *great* as their manager. -Paul Jacobi- I thought he got shot in the eye.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 I found them to be boring. They also botched a spot in the corner during the match. The crowd didn't like them. I'll give them one more match before they go in the "Eh..." pile with the rest of the OVW crap.
Guest theanswer1824 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 i don't know too much about these two guys but my two cents is this: WWE, STOP WITH THE SHITTY GIMMICKS.

AndrewTS Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 "If they'd used two 'established' wrestlers, people would have been on their ass for not using two guys from OVW."' No they wouldn't. We're well aware of WWE's tendency to pull guys out of OVW when they're still green as grass. When's the last time a fair amount of people made a complaint like that?

Who's to say a first appearance means that they're not good? Honestly, I thought Val Venis' debut appearance in 1998 was really, really bad. He has turned out to be damned good. Edge's TV debut had him nearly break a Boriqua's neck. Hell, Rob Conway's debut (who remembers his match with Randy Orton on Velocity?) was nothing impressive and I think he has as much upside as anybody. First appearances can be exceptionally deceiving. The HeartThrobs have an amusing gimmick and they'll be pretty good. -=Mike
