CanadianGuitarist Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 I watched a movie a few weeks ago called Three O Clock High, which was surprisingly good. Towards the end, the guy who played Joe Bookman on Seinfeld made an appearance. My dad and my brother and I laughed like hell at seeing this. We just can't imagine him being anyone else but the Library Cop. Anyone else have anything along these lines? I suspect we'll be hearing a lot of Ed O Neill as Al Bundy.

Sicne I became a Buffy/Angel amrk recently I will say alot of people from those shows, even though I had previously seen them in movies before I liekd the shows, now it seems odd. I would say David Boreanaz as anyone ohter than Angel, is strange to me.

LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 Not anyone in particular, but usually seeing kids from places like Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel transition into older movies are weird for me to swallow. For instance, the movie Mean Creek, while having some younger actors that have done adult work (Rory Culkin and Scotty from EuroTrip) also has the fat kid from a lot of Nickelodeon stuff who was in Max Keeble's Big Move and Snow Day, a girl from the Lizzie McGuire Movie and a kid from the kid's movie the Dust Factory. It's weird to see these kids be in those kid orientated things to being in a movie like this where they are dropping F-bombs and making sexual comments about people's mothers and the such. I guess one actor that kinda hit me in my last ramble would be Mario Lopez. The man in AC Slater. I've seen some low budget action movies and stuff with him on the shelf in the movie store, but the man is Slater.

I've seen him on a few shows since Fresh Prince went off the air trying to play like an actual real serious character, but it just looks dumb as hell. I keep waiting for Tom Jones to come on out of nowhere and him to start dancing.

DrVenkman PhD Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 I seem to recall hearing about Ed O'Neil being in a serious dramatic role that failed miserably because when he was first seen on screen the audience reaction was to laugh at Al Bundy. I tend to typecast people as the first role I saw them in. Michael McKean will always be Fred, the low life from Short Circuit 2 with a heart of gold, to me... although his turn as Mr. Ditmeyer in the Brady Bunch movie was really good at almost replacing that. Harold Ramis is Egon Spengler and nothing else.

We just can't imagine him being anyone else but the Library Cop. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had that problem watching the remake of The Amityville Horror, he (Philip Baker Hall) played Father Callaway. The second he showed up on the screen, I let out a quick, loud, laugh. I just couldn't help it, I really couldn't. I can't really take Alec Baldwin seriously anymore, not after all of his fantastic stints of hosting SNL. It's been years and years since I've been able to take him seriously at all. That's not a putdown to him though. I just can't get over seeing him in the Canteen Boy sketch, and all of the others. I've ALMOST hit that same point for Christopher Walken. I can't help but to at least smile when I watch him in things as far back as The Deer Hunter now. SNL has done this to quite a few people for me. I had the same problem with Winkler for years, until I saw him on Arrested Development. I almost never thing of him as "Fonz", unless they write in a joke for the show like "jumping the shark", the post in the mirror, etc... To me, Barry Zuckerkorn is just a damn fine comedic character, one of the best on TV right now.

The Dragnet revival? Katie Holmes in Batman Begins is just Joey with a gun. I don't know if it was her acting (which I think it was), or her looking too damn young, but she really looked out of place. The Harry Potter kid is probably going to have a hard time getting different roles.

Although for some reason when I see James Van Der Beek, being that I never watched nor cared for Dawson's Creek, I always see him as the guy from Varsity Blues.

My first thought...oh the guy that played Al Bundy is in this movie. Didn't really effect taking his character seriously though. I only have that problem when any wrestler other than Roddy Piper in a movie. I just think it's because I became a fan in the late 80s and Piper has only been around sporadically since then.

I didn't even realize Affleck played Shannon Hamilton until someone pointed it out to me. Jennifer Garner will always be Sydney Bristow from "Alias". Like when I hear Shannon Elizabeth talk without a funky European accent, it sounds wrong to me. The entire cast of That 70's Show are their characters. What is Fez' real name? I have no idea, I just call the guy Fez. Tobey Maguire is always going to be Spider-Man.

Nighthawk Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 I never get this. Ed O'Neill remains a favorite actor for reasons quite unrelated to Al Bundy. Jim Varney as well, though he barely ever got to showcase it.
