Well, I know we talked Iron Man stuff before, but I started a new thread because the actor has been named. Robert Downey Jr. will be playing Tony Stark and Iron Man.

Ain't It Cool News reports that Robert Downey Jr. has been cast to play Iron Man for director Jon Favreau at Marvel Studios! The movie will be distributed by Paramount Pictures on May 2, 2008.

 

Based upon Marvel's iconic Super Hero, the film will follow billionaire weapons-manufacturer, Tony Stark (Downey Jr.), who confronts the sins of his past after he is injured by one of his own weapons. Equipped with a high-tech suit of armor, he becomes Iron Man to combat evil on a global scale.

 

Arthur Marcum and Matt Holloway wrote the film's screenplay.

Robert can be hit or miss but he's damn sure not Tony Stark. I might buy Coolio more than Robert Downey Jr. Hell, I'd have bought Thomas Gibson quicker than Robery Downey Jr.

Weird choice IMO. The guy's a fine actor when he puts his mind to it, hopefully he can pull off the role of Tony Stark.

 

BTW, I saw some of the rejected armor models they were developing and they looked fine so they might be on the right track at least armor-wise.

The one plus is Downey was very good in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Downey was also one of the big highlights of A Scanner Darkly, though he was playing a character there that's world's away from the kind of character Tony Stark is.

Why is robert downey jr so underrated anyway. I mean seriously, even if the movie is pure shit, he usually does his fucking thing. I mean jesus, he did a great job in Black and White and that was the worse fucking movie I have seen in a long time. Plus, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is the shit.
