Harriet was on Perfect Strangers for two seasons as the elevator operator from 1987-1989

 

Yeah, but she was just sort of there, she wasn't ever really a major role. Which I sorta mentioned in my first post. They used her character a little more right before the spin-off to get people more in tune with her character so it's kind of a gray area answer to Kamala's question. I'd say that they didn't really "introduce" her character other than "black lady who Balki talks to sometimes on the elevator" until they wanted the spin-off.

 

And I think that they are using Private Practice more as the general idea of "same show, but not" instead of, "let's clone Private Practice but Office!"

Yeah, it had its moments, but this was probably the weakest of the year. Too ridiculous (I don't know why THIS crossed the line, but hey), and the camera angles in the car don't jibe with the whole documentary thing, which they usually stick to pretty well. I'd say it was like that shot of the Rock from that halftime wrestling match if it didn't cause me to feel utterly asham

I don't think Michael's idea to raid Utica was that outrageous and the car ride there was funny as hell to boot.

 

"If you harm one hair on Stanley's head...I will burn Utica to the ground."

 

It also is looking like they are setting up the (inevitable) Jam breakup as either Pam realizing that Jim is just going to be running in place the rest of his life or Jim realizing that he really can do better in his life than what he is doing right now.

Fun episode but I thought Dwight was a little over the top in his wanting to use real bombs and take out people's eyes. The burn Utica to the ground thing was funny.

Continuity error: In Season 1, the episode where Michael asked who's birthday was next..they said that Meredith's birthday was next but not for over a month. In this episode, Kelly, Creed, and Oscar all have birthdays right before Meredith's.

 

Anyways, OK episode.

I can't possibly dislike an episode that has Creed demanding peach cobbler and then wolfing down an entire pan of said cobbler later on? I loved the subtleties of Jim channeling Michael while in charge; from the way he looked up at a couple of points to the talking head at Michael's desk.

 

Maybe I read too much into it, but it seems like they're leading to something with Jim realizing/dealing with the idea he's not leaving this company any time soon.

 

And what, no love for the Battlestar Galatica sweatshirt?

Dwight's hidden weapon stash and Michael's birthday surprises were the only real highlights here. Painfully dull episode.

I actually thought the weapons stash thing was a bit flat, but the birthday surprises were great, and the development of Jim's character was awesome. Him giving in and making a "that's what she said" joke was a nice touch.

I can't take it anymore. I was a fan of the British one before this show started...

 

AND I firmly believe that season 2 of this version is the best season of tv in the history of tv...

 

BUT THIS SEASON SUCKS.

 

It's just not funny.

 

I laughed once tonight. When Dwight hit Michael with his shoe.

 

But hey...guess what I haven't laughed at all year? Michael. Jim. Pam.

 

They ripped the heart out and now it's a show that belongs on CBS.

 

I introduced everyone I know to the Office...TWICE!!!

Kind of a weak episode. I've enjoyed the season for the most part, and I think tonight may have just been weak because they had to make it "green."

BPS always includes so many line breaks in his posts. The angry bitching looks quite organized.

 

Either way, even when The Office isn't necessarily on, it's still entertaining enough to be the best comedy on television. I thought there were a couple of highlights -- Michael knocking on the window at the beginning and telling Toby nobody cares, Dwight hitting Michael with his shoe, Michael's birthday surprises, Phyllis calling Jim "Michael" and Jim's reaction to it, Jim turning into Michael at the end with the "thats what she said" comment -- and thats really all I ask for with a TV comedy.

 

I honestly feel there is no better sitcom today than The Office so I doubt I'm going to be one of the people who bitch and moan about how the quality has dropped off. Sure, maybe it has a little, but it doesn't mean it's still not an entertaining show.

One of the reasons that the Office is the best comedy on TV is that is develops its characters very very well. They don't always throw it in your face that "this is how ___ is changing! look at it!!!!", they do it subtlely . That credits sequence was a perfect example.

 

I do agree, whenever it is off, it is still entertaining. When it is on, there is no doubting its the best comedy on TV. If you haven't found anything to enjoy in this season, then you are just looking for things to crap on.

To be fair, it was largely a means to an end. They needed to get Michael, and Dwight, out of the office for some reason to allow Jim to step into Michael's role.

-Looking back, there were some subtle little Jim Becoming Michael moments that I didn't even notice the first time. Jim looked at the camera a couple times in a very similar way to Michael (not his usual Jim Look), and I remembered that Pam had been working there a lot longer than Jim, so she probably remembered that Michael had already tried the One Party, which explains her reaction.

Yeah, a lot of the Michael in the Woods thing fell flat, but I still think it was a really good episode. Had the stuff in the woods been funny throughout, it'd be a great episode. The closing credits sequence ranks up among my favorite scenes from the show ever.

Yeah, that was really good. It kind of showed that a lot of Michael's demeanor is an effort to be a people person, and that as much as it may seem like a pain in the ass, they all like to feel appreciated as individuals.

 

The camping stuff, though, yeesh.

The Michael/Jim scene at the end of the episode felt like the most real moment I can remember. Jim realized what was happening and Michael wasn't off the wall and actually tried to talk to him like a friend. The conversation about not really getting "Thats What She Said" capped it off for me.
