Youth N Asia Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I went down to Gameworks the other night and realized how much I used to love the arcade. So what's everyone's favorites. Silent Scope. I suck badly at it, but I still love it. The Ambulance game...dunno the official title. But you start at the scene of an accident and have to rush the patiant to the hospital. And when you get bumped or crash it shows them rocking in the back. It's great. I just played this 6 person indy car racers that I fell in love with. 6 cars lined up and the cars move really well to go along with how you're doing on the track. Galaga...who doesn't love Galaga?
razazteca Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 The old school Komami 4 player games like Ninja Turtles or gun games like Time Crisis and Police 911.
The Amazing Rando Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Simpsons: The Arcade Game X-Men: The 6 player Dual Screen Arcade Game Gunslingers Some of those old-school gun games as well.
Kismet Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Crimefighters. The boss fights were pretty cool, a great beat em up, and hell one of the first games I remember where you could knee the enemies in the nuts. Pretty funny.
Ced Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 WrestleFest, Silent Scope, DDR, Derby Owner's Club (before bastards began bringing in cracked horses), APB. I used to be such an arcade junkie...I stil am, but nowhere near as intense.
Guest The Spike Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Metal Slug series House of the Dead 3 (Love that pump shotgun) Final Fight Space Invaders Mocap Boxing (Fun game even though I look goofy when I play it)
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Shinobi, Golden Axe, Double Dragon. EDIT: Forgot to mention High Impact and Super High Impact Football...
devo Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Basically Any Bemani (Beatmania IIDX and Pop'n Music are my favorites, but I also love Guitar Freaks/Drummania and still play DDR from time to time.) Initial D Sunset Riders (Can't find it anywhere these days, though.) Raiden Fighters II Outrun 2
spman Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Man, there' no arcades around here for 40+ miles in any direction, they all shut down years ago.
Sideburnious Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Simpsons arcade game, even though it got soo repeditive after the third level (finished it on mame).
Guest Coffey Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Killer Instinct Mortal Kombat 2 X-Men Vs. Street Fighter
CanadianChris Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 NBA Jam Mortal Kombat Elevator Action Commando
Anya Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Tekken 1-5 Street Fighter series MK 1-4 KI 1-2 Final Fight, Punisher, Knights of the Round, all other Capcom beat em ups NBA Jam TE Hydro Thunder and Artic Thunder Rush 2049 Ghost Squad Area 51
NoCalMike Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Street Fighter 2, I was an addict. The Donut shop across the street from school had daily tournaments before, during, and after school. I remember people doing the old "hammer-to-nickel" trick so we could keep playing.
Guest Smues Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 No love for Gauntlet Legends? I wasted close to $100 on that one summer (since the game so kindly tells you how many credits you've bought when you beat it). I also used to waste a lot of time on Toki and STUN runner.
devo Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 The constantly diminishing health in Gauntlet Legends really pissed me off. Game's pretty cool otherwise, made for a decent rental once it came to consoles.
Boon Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 #1 - Def the 6 man X-Men Two Screen #2 - Hydro Thunder #3 - I have no idea what it was called, but it has two huge mounted machine guns, and you go flying around cities shooting yellow/blue energy pulses. Fucking sweet with a buddy.
ChrisMWaters Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 For me, since I don't have much arcade experience... Mo-Cap Boxing. That game helped me cut weight for wrestling. Plus, I loved "kissing" the glove before the final punch.
JST Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Guitar Freaks. Gave me the illusion I had musical talent.
AndrewTS Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Captain America and the Avengers Any NBA Jam Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game Wrestlefest Mo-Cap Boxing (agreed, it's fantastic fun.) Raiden Fighters Jet Virtua Cop 3 and most of the ones mentioned here already.
AlaskanHero Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 X-Men (I remember helping to beat it with 5 strangers as each of the X-Men) TMNT Simpsons Wrestlefest Mo-Cap Boxing And my personal all time favorite game is Virtua On. Sitting there in the booth, using the dual joysticks to fuck other robots up was just too much fun.
Ced Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 - I got some serious tennis elbow playing MoCap Boxing the first time I played it being oblivious to the fact that punching power has no impact in the game. Then I discovered the glove tap trick and all was good. - Can't believe I forgot the other Bemani games. DrumMania remains my favorite and I really wish a IIDX machine would appear in a more convienient position around my place. - Boon, the helicopter game you're referring to is Gunblade NY if I'm thinking of the correct game.
Youth N Asia Posted October 30, 2005 Author Report Posted October 30, 2005 As far as older stuff I also loved Double Dragon 1 and 2. STRYDER! P.O.W., Vigalante. And definatly TMNT...that was the first arcade game I ever beat. (Double Dragon was the second)
Guest ABOBO Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Pretty much all of them were covered. Punch Out arcade and Battletoads were up there too.
kkktookmybabyaway Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 No love for Gauntlet Legends?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sonofabitch. I forgot about that -- although I'd lean toward Dark Legacy for the four extra levels...
The Amazing Rando Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Virtua On! Shit, I remember that. 0wnage. I got really good at it for like one summer and then stopped playing, then it was like I was just a n00b again the next time I played it.
2GOLD Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 Aliens X-Men And the one game that really pissed me off but I couldn't stop playing: The Simpsons.
Rendclaw Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 WWF Superstars Wrestlefest Street Fighter (II, CE, Turbo, Super, Super Turbo, Alpha 1, 2, 3) Mat Mania/Mania Challenge Star Wars Karate Champ Asteroids Missile Command Tempest Tron I think I will stop there, because I could go down the list for hours.
BruiserKC Posted October 30, 2005 Report Posted October 30, 2005 TMNT Missile Command Galaga...used to spend entire lunch hours playing it at my HS's student center...plus the study hall I had next hour after lunch as the teacher who ran it never took attendance. Revolution X NFL Blitz Cyberball...don't know if anyone remembers this game...football with robots. WrestleFest...I dominated tag team wrestling with Mr. Perfect and DiBiase X-Men
