  1. Well his own post veered off from the original point to a point of not trusting where the donation money is going, so I just decided to compare it to Bush asking for billions for Iraq, while outright refusing to lay out a semi-detailed plan of where the money was going to be used. Oh, I see, you looked in here and saw a bad post, and so you thought to yourself, "Gee, what could I say to make this thread even more inane and assinine? I know! I'll expound upon my beliefs about the war in Iraq!" Kudos, kudos to you.
  2. I can honestly say I would mark if they brought in Atlantis. I also personally would love them to bring in Shocker, cause I think he's a decent enough worker and could get them some crossover appeal. And Tarzan Boy. And motherfucking Super Porky (who would fucking RULE THE FUCKING ROSTER - fuck it, I want to see him beat JBL for the goddamn title). Of course, they'd have to ditch their current ring announcer and sign the one they use for CMLL. Cause the luchadors have to be announced the way that guy does it. "Capitan de los tecnicos......SHOCKER~!" BTW, has Crazy gotten himself back into shape? Last time I saw him was on CMLL TV, and it looked like he's let himself get pudgy.
  3. Yeah, but we knew that coming into this. Meltzer had been reporting for months that Magnus / Hassan was going to be one of the next OVW guys to get called up, and virtually every analysis given of the guy was that he was very good on the mike but mediocre at best in the ring. Like that's hard to be. I maintain that, even in the current WWE climate of Heidenreich's and Snitskys, Tomko remains one of the worst workers I've seen in my near 13-year "career" as a wrestling fan.
  4. Although not quite the same, given his appearance, Snitsky is a good example of your "different leads to over" argument. He started to get over given the most absurd gimmick of the year (i.e. the poor man's abortionist) simply because he was someone completely different.
  5. Anyone have any idea when Jordan's finally going to finish Wheel of Time? Because as I've mentioned before, I simply refuse to start reading it until it's all published. I'm not waiting years between books just because Jordan's too lazy (or greedy) to finish writing the series.
  6. Carnage hasn't been a perfectly decent character in ages. Granted, but he has been a MAJOR Spidey-villain in years past, and if the objection here is that his death is being used as something of an afterthought by Bendis, I can totally understand the criticism.
  7. I have nothing to add except that I plan on reading these books one day. But I need to set aside about six months to do so, because, while I like Stephenson and I think he's a quality writer, the guy can't seem to wrap up a novel unless it's past the 1,000 page mark.
  8. The thing is though, for the gimmick to REALLY work they need to push this guy hard - which means, as JMA has theorized, that they push him as an upper-level heel, and I just don't see that working (for a number of reasons, several of them ending in the word "HHH"). That would be money, I have to admit.
  9. HHH wins? Eh, MUCH BETTER than if Batista was champ. Seriously, some of you need to lay off the crack, come to reason, and quietly get off the ridiculous Batista bandwagon.

  11. CNN is cancelling Crossfire? Hey, that network is starting to suck a little less.
  12. I'm a little surprised no one's made the obvious joke about "having faith in Jesus". I know I do!
  13. I remember that match, specifically because it's the last time I can remember Taker jobbing clean to someone (and I should also note, that match took place around....1998 or so). If memory serves, it was a RAW main event, in which Taker teamed up with someone (I forget who) to take on Farooq, who at this point was just starting the Nation of Domination. Kama was making his re-debut that night (returning to TV, I should say) as part of the Nation, and I even think it was a handicap match where Taker & his partner faced off against Farooq, Kama, and maybe D-Lo Brown.
  14. He lost as clean as possible to Brock in HitC. I just watched that match again a few weeks ago, and that loss was prefaced by Brock "breaking" the Undertaker's hand / wrist, along with various other sneak attacks in the days leading up to the match. I really would like someone to give me statistics on the last time Taker jobbed CLEAN to anyone. It doesn't fucking count if there was interference, or if the heel assaulted Taker on the Smackdown before the bit PPV match, etc. When was the last time someone got a clean pinfall on Taker. I'm willing to bet that it happened YEARS ago. I don't want to steer this into a Taker discussion, but really - anyone who has this idea that "when he finally does lose to someone, it will mean something!" is fucking delusional. He's NOT going to. Taker is LONG past the point now where he should be wrapping up his career by putting over the younger guys, and he ain't doing it, and he won't be doing it any time soon. Rudo is right in that you just haven't been reading the thread. Again, this all goes back to how it would have taken virtually NO EFFORT at all for the announcers (or hell, the bookers) to portray the match in a way that benefited both Batista AND Benoit. Don't give me this shit about how they're just focused on Batista. That's idiotic, short-sighted, and it's flat out BAD business to COMPLETELY put over someone at the expense of the another worker, when it would take only a modest amount of effort to make both of them look strong.
  15. Well it was nice to see that the wife also got a death sentence just for creepin' on the husband. Seriously, that area of the world is THE most fucked up place on the planet. Culturally some of them haven't even hit the Dark Ages yet.
  16. Finally, someone chimes in with a sensible post - good job nikjohns! YOU PEOPLE AREN'T LISTENING. Rudo's argument was never "Benoit should not have lost. Benoit is demoted because he lost." The fact that he lost is unimportant. It was how he was PORTRAYED in the loss that is. He came into the match the fan favorite, he was presented as a bit of a chump, and by the end of the match he had most definitely been usurped by Batista. This is bad because: a) it pushes Benoit further down a roster that he was already sinking in and b) if the bookers had put forth just a tiny bit more effort they could have given some protection to Benoit AND still put over Batista, big time. If you want a clear example of how insignificant Benoit was portrayed, think about how the announcers didn't even mention the fact that Batista just beat the guy who HHH has never scored a clean pinfall over (maybe not even a "dirty" pinfall) all year. Benoit was nothing but an afterthought in that match - it was all about "Bah Gawd, that Batista's an animal!" EDIT: I've covered this one before in this thread. There was NO MENTION OF BATISTA BREAKING THE RULES. No mention of him using the exposed turnbuckle. Or, rather, JR mentioned it, but he didn't make an issue out of. JR sold the finish of the match not as "That damn Batista, he cheated to win!" but as "Look at the power of that monster, Batista!" If they HAD made an issue of Batista essentially cheating to win, then Benoit would have probably had some modicum of protection coming out of that match, but he didn't even get THAT.
  17. Jesus, this guy has got NOTHING. I mean, despite the fact that Cena's not a terribly good worker or anything, I kind of like the guy, but he really does make it hard to be a fan of his with this lame shit.
  18. And they didn't do it last night. This what Rudo is talking about, although people here don't seem to be either reading his posts or understanding them. The problem isn't that Batista went over Benoit - it was how he was portrayed in doing it. It was done in a way that, overall, only serves to HURT Benoit, and that, quite frankly, is bullshit when Batista could have been put over in a way that protected Benoit AND elevated Batista at the same time. They didn't choose that route, though.
  19. In the past couple years, Stouffers has really made an effort with their products - they've developed quite a sizable variety of enjoyable entrees. .........Yes, I eat a lot of TV dinners. I'm a bachelor who doesn't have a lot of time to cook.
  20. THANK YOU. Jim Ross has a fucking coronary whenever a heel like HHH or Flair or Christian or etc., even does something that's even remotely illegal, be it something simply like a poke in the eyes, but he didn't say ONE WORD about Batista deliberately using the exposed turnbuckle. THAT, for me, is what made that match a clear demotion for Benoit. More than anything. If it had been presented that Batista had cheated, even in the SLIGHTEST, to win, then Benoit would have had a modicum of protection, but there was *nothing*. The entire goal of that match was to put over Batista at the expense of Benoit, and it succeeded.
  21. I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I will never be a pro wrestler of any sort. However, if I were to ever actually succeed in being trained and becoming one, I'd be perfectly happy working the indies. I'd be less enamored with the fame aspect of the business as I would just the opportunity to put on a good match with someone - even if it's a match only a few dozen people would see.
  22. I don't often agree with Jobber, but I do so now. A voice of reason amidst a sea of the "OMGAMERICAISTEHCHEAPSK8!!!!" idiots.
  23. Anyone want to place bets on how long before this anti-Semitic moron gets banned? I'm HOPING it's soon.
  24. (Obscure Cult Movie reference ahead) At least he wasn't biting the heads off of chickens Like this guy... This is as off topic as it gets, but I just wanted to say that not only have I seen this movie, but I actually OWN a copy of it, and it is easily one of the worst horror films ever made, and as anyone who is a fan of the genre can attest to, that is saying something. Although it does have one redeeming scene where you get to see Stacy Haiduk's breasts. Some of you may recall her playing Lana Lane in that classic late 80s "Superboy" TV show. I'm gonna go cry in a corner now.
  25. Carnage is still Cleatus Kassady, though he's on his second symbiote as Howard Mackie had Venom eat Cleatus's symbiote/costume, which led to Cleatus (after going around naked and painted red) to go into the Negative Zone with Spidey. where he found a new symbiote/costume that was outright identical to his old symbiote/costume... Wow - I just got a flash back to the Howard Mackie run on Amazing Spider-Man from a few years back. Mackie remains the only man in all of comics that actually made me cancel my subscription to AMS. Hell, I even stuck it out through the Clone nonsense - but Mackie was so fucking awful I just couldn't abide the series.
