Some examples of this are -3-Count: Sure, the gimmick sucked-until Tank Abbot came in. While Tank was a bad wrestler, his run with 3-Count was gold, especially "Nothin' but a Tank Thing" -Al Wilson: Sure, it was bad, but it was susposed to be bad, and for that, as well as the announcing teams reactions, I loved it. Also, it's probably just me, but Michael Cole was a pretty good announcer back then. -The Kane-Lita Wedding: Sure, Trish was SMOKING HOT in that bit, but for me, it was Kane who made the whole thing work. He played the sadistic asshole heel so well, it made the whole thing watchable for me.

When he debuted, it was the same thing. Then there was the week when they showed that video of Regal training him and has been loved ever since. ....I still think its stupid.

I was a huge Too Much fan back when everyone hated them, but I wasn't online then, so I don't know how the internet responded. Me too. The ridiculously annoying laugh of Brian Christopher, pre Grand Masta Sexy, was great.

Most of the net hates his guts.

From what I know most people didn't like Rey without his mask, but it was this period of time that I really got into him as a character and worker. The No-Limit Soldiers weren't that bad in my eyes, but I wasn't on the internet at that time, so I dunno how every took to them. JR and the King. WWE does tend to brainwash it's fans. When Paul Heyman took over the King's spot, it felt ackward to me. Even if he was good, I was used to the King yelling about puppies and what not. Oh and this may get my Smark Card revoked, but I thought the Katie Vick storyline wasn't all that bad.

Loved the gimmick from the word go and Lawler's commentary was actually entertaining during their matches. They were the best to play the two little fruitcakes tag team w/o being out-and-out gay . . . just flamboyant.
haws bah gawd Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Test: Hardcore Champion. I wasn't so much a fan of him holding the tile, but how he won the tile for the first time was badass. He held the Bossman's nightstick, to where the point on the long-end was next to his elbow, and gave Bossman a flying elbow drop with it, driving the point of the stick into his chest. A very simplistic maneuver, but the execution was awesome.

The guy didn't need music, an elaborate entrance, or any real mic skills to get the fans to boo. He just told them to pay taxes. Also I've always had a soft spot for Viscera. Did anybody like Hogan's last two WWF World Title runs? The last one I didn't mind, since it took the title off Triple H, but the 1993 reign really was non-existant since he defended the title zero times between winning and losing it.

Gary Floyd Posted April 20, 2005 Author Report Posted April 20, 2005 Luger and Sting circa 95 through 96: It had the best heel work in Luger's career, yet there was a sense of ambiguity to it; Luger came off as a heelish asshole who at the same time doesn't want to turn on his friend. The thing that cracks me up was that during the whole feud, Hogan (who was susposed to be a face at the time) seemed like the asshole.

I'm sorry, but I do think that he's still the best play-by-play announcer in wrestling (especially since Joey Styles is basically retired). I like heavyweights. I think that Hogan, Taker, Kane, Albert, Abyss, Buchanan, and Big Show all get a bum rap just because they're kinda clumsy and don't do many highspots. Shit, I was watching a tape where Big Show bumped over the top rope straight to the floor. I can't do that, and I've been thrown out of rings again and again for years.

The guy is booked as an unstoppable monster, steam rolls over RVD... then gets his ass kicked by a non-wrestler. That makes as much sense as George Lucas to decide that Greedo should shoot first.

I used to love how he'd take the mic and stand there as if he were preparing to deliver some dynamic speech...then suddenly start talking in that monotone voice of his. Cracked me up damn near everytime. Others... Chyna's first I-C reign, obviously. Dean Douglas (how anyone can say this was a bad gimmick is beyond me) I was also a fan of Justin Credible's ECW Title reign And for a real odd one, the Taker/Kane vs Rikishi/Haku feud from 2001. I have NO CLUE why but for some reason at the time I was really into that one and was actually kinda pissed when it got called off without any real payoff.

But now I really like it and it just seems to fit him perfectly. His "Christian! Christian! At Last You're On Your Owwwwwwn!" entrence also ruled.
