spman Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,16484,00.html Wow, I was a huge fan of Season 1, and thought Season 2 was largely dissapointing, but this comes as a surprise to me, why would Comedy Central can their big cash cow right before the next season?
starvenger Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I'm thinking that either he's still under the weather or he's got some "personal demons"...
EricMM Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I think he's just really worried about the quality of this new season. I think he's just going to keep doing "shows" til he has enough quality material to make a season. I can't fault him. At this point, I'm pretty sure CC will bend over backwards for him considering how fucking over he is.
Placebo Effect Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 You thought the second season was dissapointing?
JHawk Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 They're also pushing back the release of the Season 2 DVD set because Paramount wants to wait for the season to debut. My thought: Why did they even bother advertising the debut of season 3 if they didn't have enough episodes in the can to guarantee them airing?
elite Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 The rumor is, Chappelle had a nervous breakdown. Who knows...
Vyce Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Rumor is that Dave's had a nervous breakdown over the pressure of the new season. Could be complete crap, but the longer the delay, the more I tend to think there's a possibility that it's true.
Jingus Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I'm thinking that either he's still under the weather or he's got some "personal demons"... Ding ding ding, we have a winner! This is one of three things: 1. drug problem 2. artistic fear of being put under so much pressure to produce for the 3rd season 3. something we don't know about, like some close relative died & he's depressed, or he accidentally cut off one of his balls while shaving them, or some other stupid thing like that. And godDAMNit why do they keep pushing back the DVD release date? If they do it for too long, everyone will forget about the fucking show and the sales will suck.
BlackFlagg Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Dang, well I guess it's better having it pushed back than having a half assed season...but g'damn, why do they have to push the dang dvd back too? Throw us a friggin bone....
Guest LooneyTune Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 That's what I get for cheering for the "Season 3 begins May 31st" commercial. If Chappelle's Show doesn't begin soon, the terrorists win.
Zetterberg is God Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 I wouldn't be surprised if he only did one more year. I think he's putting way too much pressure on himself because of the success of season two. He has to stop thinking that he needs to have a Rick James type skit from now on to consider the show and himself a success.
Jericholic82 Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 what? and the commercials just started to air. and I was getting pysched for the dvd. Hope Dave is ok though.
Black Lushus Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 how can a season featuring Dave as Rick James, Lil Jon and Prince and a lot of Charlie Murphy exposure be considered a disappointment?
Youth N Asia Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Personally I thought season 1 started great, and ended weak. While 2 was solid all the way through. Bad time to start running ads for season 3.
Boner Kawanger Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 This sucks, but now I won't go broke on May 24th. Hopefully Dave's not in trouble.
JasonX Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 This sucks, but now I won't go broke on May 24th. Hopefully Dave's not in trouble. TVShowsonDVD is saying that the Season Two DVD is still set to come out at the end of the month regardless of the current delays of season three......
Guest LooneyTune Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I felt Season 1 was either a hit or miss episode. 1 episode would be off the wall awesome, then the next would have maybe 1 funny 3:00 sketch. Season 2 was a lot better, and I really can't think of 1 sketch from that season that wasn't any good.
Steviekick Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I don't know if it was just an urban myth or something, but I vaguely recalling something along the lines of their being a pending lawsuit/complaint from Rick James' family about the Rick James skit which hasn't been on TV since his death.
Guest LooneyTune Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I just saw that shit like a month ago. It aired at least 3 times during the "Top 5 Episodes Week", on the wednesday night spot, then the replay on Saturday, and I'm pretty sure again on tuesday.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I never watched the first season, but I felt the second was full on hilarious until near the end, maybe the last 4 or so episodes were terrible.
JasonX Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 I don't know if it was just an urban myth or something, but I vaguely recalling something along the lines of their being a pending lawsuit/complaint from Rick James' family about the Rick James skit which hasn't been on TV since his death. Actually the rumor (never confirmed BTW) going around was that the reason for the season two set being delayed is because of the fact that the people owning the rights to Rick James's music wanted a shitload of money for the rights to use his music in the Rick James episode. Which created problems since Paramount is notoriously cheap about paying for music (which is why the season one DVD set omitted just about all of the musical guest segments from the DVD set).
Mole Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 This doesn't bother me too much since there won't be a TV near me all summer. I'd only get to watch 3 episodes, if even that.

Paramount, the same company that keeps fucking over Friday the 13th fans about "not having the unrated versions" and other awesome stuff that could've been used on the box set last year.
MDH257 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 They're also pushing back the release of the Season 2 DVD set because Paramount wants to wait for the season to debut. TV Shows on DVD.com confirmed with Paramount that as of now, the Season 2 DVD is not being delayed and is still coming out on May 24.
Guest theanswer1824 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 i'm actually glad there is a delay. now, i'm a DC fan but seriously, I saw this guy everywhere (over exposure imo) and i just couldn't stand EVERYONE and their mom screaming his catch phrases. yes, he's a pop culture icon now more than ever and maybe that's why he's 'depressed'. at his stand up show in sacramento, he had to tell fools to shut up cause they kept screaming 'i'm rick james, bitch!' and 'yeaaahhh okaaay!' through out his routine (he also looked visibly irked out). you know he'll come back with some fire though. the people are waiting. he also has that 'dave chappelle: block party' concert dvd coming out where he reunites the fugees.

His hbo special in 2000 is a great example. "Hey baby, stop selling weed"-Dave "N*gga, I got kids to feed!"-Little Kid seeling drugs in the ghetto
Guest Cerebus Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 I know its better to be late than to suck, but I'm already starting to lose interest.
