Henry Spencer Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Radiohead - Exit Music I'm sure it's already been mentioned. I don't care to look, though.
Renegade Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 Gone away and Denial revisited by the offspring come to mind.
Lil' Bitch Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I can't believe you're almost 22. Neither can I.
The Czech Republic Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom If that's sad, I'd hate to hear downright depressing. Consarn it! Did I spell "Stacy" wrong again?!? I always forget if it's -y, -ey, or -ie, because I see them all. I actually lost a friend over this.
Paul Stanley Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth Damn, that's a depressing/sick song. Journey - Send Her My Love
Guest BrokenWings Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 "Drops of Jupiter" by Train (It was played at a funeral of one of my friends. ) I nearly forgot this one which was played at a friend of mine's funeral, thanks for reminding me... Diamond Rio - One More Day
1234-5678 Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 "Operator" by Jim Croce. Only because it was a favorite of a friend of mine who died. One of these days I may go through the trouble of looking up the lyrics.
Special K Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 You know what song makes me happy and sad at the same time? "Redemption Song" as performed by Joe Strummer and Johnny Cash. Two of my favourites, now dead. They sound both weary and hopeful at the same time. Great, great track. "The District sleeps alone tonight" by the Postal Service sorta gets me too. You know what song I HATE, and it makes me sad? Good Riddance by Green Day. I hated it when it came out, and I hate it even more that it's been played at just about every friend's funeral/sad TV special ever. If a see a tribute to Rodney Dangerfield with Good Riddance playing while he's in slow motion, it will be the first time a song's made me cry, and it'll be with anger.
Vyce Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 "Don't Panic" by Coldplay. I first heard this song in the music department of a Borders bookstore in the spring of 2001, and really dug it, and bought the album. I must have played it a hundred times in the days and weeks following 9/11.
Guest EraserDog Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 "Thrasher", Neil Young. That one line, "the motel of lost companions waits with heated pool and bar" cuts deep. And because I feel compelled to throw in a joke answer, "Weep Day" by They Might Be Giants. They guy's already Urine Man, and all he gets is weep day while Mr. Tambo enjoys samba time. It's just not fair! (cries openly)
mister foozel Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 jimmy eat world "hear you me" so sappy, yet so sad
AboveAverage484 Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 The outro to "Layla." It can move a man to tears.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Swipe the Fox and the Hound cumshot avatar already, gtd. It's obviously better, and you know you want it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 I bet there's going to be people reading that who won't know quite what to make of it.
starvenger Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 Sad is Jessica Simpson's latest cover - Robbie Williams' "Angels". Once again she's managed to suck the soul out of a song by making it all about her (see: "Take My Breath Away"). I heard this in an H&M last weekend, and both me and my fiancee were screaming "Turn it off!! Turn it off!!" Not the same type of "sad" as the rest of the songs here, but I needed to vent.
2GOLD Posted October 22, 2004 Report Posted October 22, 2004 "The Dance" by Garth Brooks since it was played at my brothers funeral and Dolly Parton's "I will always love you". Guns N Roses cover of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" gets to me some, but not a crusher. "Goodbye to Love" by Carpenters should be illegal.
Guest Indikator Posted October 23, 2004 Report Posted October 23, 2004 Beat Happening - What's Important
LJSexay Posted October 25, 2004 Report Posted October 25, 2004 The Velvet Teen - Forlorn it just brings me so so down
1234-5678 Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 "Estranged" by Guns N Roses is pretty sad I guess, especially when you consider how badly Axl lost it.
Guest TheBASHER Posted October 26, 2004 Report Posted October 26, 2004 Mother Love by Queen, Very sad song and its chills me to think Freddie Mercury never got to finish it, Brian May has to sing the last verse of the song as Freddie never managed to come back to the studio to finish it.
