Mik Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I'll leave the 35 page monologue to Bob Barron, but SNL last night with Queen Latifah was the largest pile of shit from start to finish that I have ever seen in my life. It started terrible with the debate...went downhill with the barbershop quartet, and sunk even lower by the time they had the voter "ghetto" faceoff that ended with Latifah's character saying..."Like my girl Queen Latifah would say." And then she started singing UNITY. I shut it off right there, so the greatest skit in the world could have come on last and there was no way in hell I was sticking around for it. Worst episode of SNL I've ever seen in my life.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I thought it was far superior to the season premiere. Not very good at ALL, but it doesn't take much to top the terrible season premiere. Oh, and as for "Worst SNL Ever"... uhm, have you seen the Halle Berry one from last year? THAT was the worst SNL ever.
GreatWhiteNope Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 People still watch SNL? I stopped watching after Molly Shannon's last show in 2001. From the little I've seen since then, "went to hell" is an understatement.
iliketurtles Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I watched a little of it...pretty bad.
treble Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 I thought it was a lot better than last week's show, too. The debate sketch was a little better this go around, but I wish they'd stop doing them. The Vice-Presidential one was better. C'mon, 'Your pubes look GREAT!' was awesome, though.
razazteca Posted October 10, 2004 Report Posted October 10, 2004 What is the deal with Will Forte singing jibberish as a recurring character? I changed the channel after the Prince Show skit.
The Electrifyer Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Was "internets" really something Bush said in the debates? Or was it just a really great SNL joke that made it into Loaded Glove's sig?
the max Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 No, he really said it. I don't remember it exactly, but it was about the draft, and something along the lines of: "Now, there's rumors going around on the, on the internets about us reinstituting the draft" and he went on to make his point.
The Electrifyer Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Oh my... I wish I had a clip of that.
Guest Mr Doe Smith Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I think that SNL last night was the most horrible thing that has happened to T V ... Ohh no wait it was the seasonh premiere was worst
B. Brian Brunzell Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 The onyl thing I found amusing about the show was the joke about the "National Depression Awareness Day" convention. Other than that, the show was garbage.
TheBigSwigg Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I watched 5 minutes, and I couldn't watch anymore. The only time I'd watch from now on would be if Walken hosted. Does anyone else see the intelligence and maturity in the humor dropping to junior high levels?
snuffbox Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Didnt SNL once have good musical guests?
Guest Anglesault Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 SNL hasn't been good in over ten years. These things shouldn't shock peope.l
Guest GreatOne Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 And Lorne Michaels thought the XFL was hurting him........................
BX Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Are you serious? Last nights Saturday TV Funhouse was outstanding.
starvenger Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Didn't make it past Patti LaBelle. When the parody ad is the best thing going in the first half hour, you're in trouble. Affleck and the season opener was miles better, even with Debbie Downer in there...
Black Lushus Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Agreed, it was crap...though the pube commercial had me rolling...
UZI Suicide Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I'm shocked that SNL can't find a better Bush impersonation. They had a whole damn summer to find one. I like Forte but he blows as Bush BTW.. how did that guy on Mad TV who does awesome impressions of basically everyone, not end up on SNL? That guy is gold. I can't remember his name but he's most known for doing John Madden.
starvenger Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 Frank Caliendo. And he's on the Fox NFL broadcasts as well.

Placebo Effect Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 I've been watching MadTV as of late after not watching it for a few seasons. I'm enjoying it. Bobby Lee's new character, the whiny Asian, is terrible, but other than that, it's enjoyable. The Ashlee Simpson skit from two weeks ago was gold.
Mecha Mummy Posted October 11, 2004 Report Posted October 11, 2004 The Ashlee Simpson skit from two weeks ago was gold. Yup, even when they apparently cut out the best line of the entire sketch it's still been the best thing on either SNL or MADtv so far.
bob_barron Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 I'll have my review up today but people who think that's the worst SNL ever and that SNL hasn't been funny in 10 years are retarded and shouldn't be taken seriously.
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 people who think that's the worst SNL ever and that SNL hasn't been funny in 10 years are retarded and shouldn't be taken seriously. When in doubt, just attack the credibility of the person whose opinion differs from yours. Of course, bringing up no points but an SK-ish PBP "review" of the show will probably not help your case, but meh. Seriously, it sounds like you took their criticism too seriously with that line. I know these SNL actors are your good friends and everything, but really, take it easy.
bob_barron Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 But it's true though. I'm actually only good friends with one castmember- I don't really talk to the cast much anymore at all. And I'm very harsh on SNL when they deserve it and I hate like half the cast. Saying that was the worst SNL ever or that SNL hasn't been funny for 10 years is just an ignorant statement. I'm writing my revew after the game.

Sorry guy, it sucks a monstercock these days... But, Ive only seen a few of the pathetic sketches...Saturday nights are usually kinda social.

I didn't say anything, but I too find it odd that the guy spends every Saturday night watching this show. I'm not one to judge or anything, but still. At least SK or whomever is the latest wrestling geek only has to stay home on MONDAY nights.
bob_barron Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 I'll have my review up today but people who think that's the worst SNL ever and that SNL hasn't been funny in 10 years are retarded and shouldn't be taken seriously. Sorry guy, it sucks a monstercock these days... But, Ive only seen a few of the pathetic sketches...Saturday nights are usually kinda social. But it really doesn't and you're totally misinformed. It's in vogue to go OMG SNL SUCKS!111!!! They did it in the Will Ferrell era and then when he leaves everyone went 'OMG THE SHOW WILL SUCK WITHOUT HIM' SNL can never seem to win these days. Then again considering snuffbox says he doesn't even watch much of the show I shouldn't be taking his opinion seriously. The show goes through bad stretches and has horrible castmembers and writers who drag down material. Lorne has made two awful decisions that have badly hurt the show. But the show overall can still for the most part put out a good show and people who say stuff like the show's been bad forever really don't watch the show. I've missed one show since 1996. I don't go out on Saturdays and I won't till they cancel the show or put together an all female cast.
Ted the Poster Posted October 12, 2004 Report Posted October 12, 2004 ... and their names are Chris Kattan and Horatio Sanz.
